I went to school with Amy for years and was pretty good friends with her. She was the sweetest and one of the nicest girls I knew. She would never have done something like this. She was one of the most wholesome and honest girls I knew. I think people need to be careful what they say when they don’t know these people or the circumstances. Good Luck Amy!

Andrew,
You clearly don’t have children….or at least none who are at the fragile and impressionable age of being a teenager. As a parent of a 16 year old, I resent to the Nth degree and find deplorable and disgusting the actions of the Northcutts. I include in my sentiments, anyone who makes excuses for, or justifies by citing age of consent laws, why it should be considered no big deal for an adult (especially one in a position of authority and trust) to take advantage of the naivety of a young teen experiencing the beginnings of their sexual maturation…and the urges and drives that go with it.
To my knowledge, all age of consent laws that allow for those under the age of 18 to consent to sex have one or both of the following provisions:
- A defined maximum age difference between the minor and adult involved in the sexual activity, or
- Require parental consent.
So I think you got it wrong if you think all you need to do to absolve yourself of all responsibility is have a signed statement by that under-aged girl that she agrees to the sexual contact. How you came to such an ignorant point of view is beyond me. But hey, feel free to carry around a pre-completed form ready for signature the next time you find a yourself in a position where you have a willing teen at your disposal. I’m sure after showing said signed form to any police officer who stumbled upon you boinking a 16 year old, that they will apologize profusely for the intrusion and invite you to continue with your fornicating with the minor with their blessings.
Your statements shows you to be both clueless and ignorant of the issues surrounding the healthy social and sexual development of a teenager. In my opinion, you have a bit of growing up to do my friend.

I grew up with Justin Northcutt in Escalon, Ca. Justin did not party and was the varsity QB. His wife was in a college geology class with me but did not smoke or drink either. What they did is not a big deal, a simple sexual indiscrection at best. You know one state over in NV, you can have sex with a 16 yr old as long as she signs a letter of consent. Good luck Justin.

He got 25,000 bail, she got 10,000. She actually wasn’t nearly as much involved as he was. They’re both wrong but I do think he should have a more severe punishment

It’ll be interesting to see if he and his wife get the same sentence for the same crime, or will she get a lesser one because she’s a chick. I’m betting his wife gets the chick discount. Time will tell…
