Joshua Henry Evans, 25, of Pooler, Georgia, a music teacher at St. Andrews Elementary School has been arrested on federal charges of attempted sexual exploitation of children and child pornography.

Evans was arrested after a search of his Pooler home by the FBI, US Immigration, Georgia Bureau of Investigation, and Pooler Police Department.
Evans was arraigned today in federal court and then released on $50,000 bond. As conditions of bond, Evans is under house arrest, cannot have access to the Internet or have any contact with minors.
EC Hubbard Jr. Headmaster of St. Andrews Elementary School says Evans will not return to St. Andrews and the school is looking for a permanent replacement.
Hubbard also says that after talking to the FBI, there’s no evidence of inappropriate behavior conducted on school grounds.
Evans is accused of arranging to have sex with someone he believed to be a 14-year-old girl at a Savannah hotel and trying to solicit nude photographs of her.
Reportedly Evans came to attention of authorities via on-line conversations with a Georgia Bureau of Investigation agent posing as a 14-year-old girl. Additionally, it is being reported that Evans also communicated on-line with five South Carolina investigators posing as a 12-year-old girl.
It is also being reported that Evans’ pregnant wife sat silently in the federal courtroom while his parents put up his $50,000 bond Wednesday.
8/06/07 – Guilty Plea
Joshua Henry Evans has entered a guilty plea to a charge he attempted to receive child pornography over the Internet.
Evans pleaded guilty today in federal court to asking a 14-year-old girl to send nude photos of herself to his personal computer. He was arrested on federal charges of attempted sexual exploitation of children and child pornography.
Evans will remain free on $50,000 bond pending a pre-sentencing report and formal sentencing. He faces five to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000. While on bond, he will be electronically monitored and will not be allowed to access the Internet.
01/03/08 – Sentencing
On December 12th Joshua Henry Evans was sentenced to five years in federal prison.
The judge lamented federal law that specifies a minimum sentence of five years in prison for the offense to which Evans pleaded guilty.
U.S. District Senior Judge William T. Moore Jr. called it a “sad day for justice” and went on to say, “The facts in this case do not justify the sentence the court is compelled to impose. Sixty months is a sentence that is much more severe than should be called for in this case.”
Evans also faced up to a lifetime of supervised release following his prison term, however Judge Moore specified only a two year term of supervised release for Evans.
At his sentencing Evans said, “I made some awful decisions in my past. Looking back, I am ashamed of my wrongdoing. I hurt God, my community, my family, my wife, my new daughter and myself.”
