Jonathan R. Carver, 29, a resident supervisor at Alpine Academy, a private residential school for troubled girls in Erda, Utah has been arrested on allegations of raping a 17-year-old student.
Carver is reportedly charged with four counts of rape, two counts of forcible and witness tampering. The latter charge owing to allegations that Carver told the girl not to speak with investigators.
Reportedly, Jonathan Carver worked with his wife as a house parent at Alpine Academy in Tooele County and that he was responsible for the daily tracking, well-being and safety of the 17-year-old alleged victim, who was a resident at the academy for several months during 2008.
It is alleged that Carver began having sexual relations with the victim in October 2008.
It is further alleged that most of the sex acts occurred in the academy’s recreation room when no one was around, although on other occasions sex acts are alleged to have occurred in Carver’s bedroom or shower when his wife was away.
Carver came to the attention of authorities when the father of the alleged victim contacted authorities because he was concerned about the ongoing communication between Carver and his daughter after the girl was no longer a resident of the academy.
Bail for Carver has been set in the amount of $100,000 cash only.
08/10/09 – Guilty Plea
In a plea deal with prosecutors, Jonathan Carver has pleaded guilty to five felony counts of forcible sexual abuse. In exchange prosecutors dismissed counts of rape, forcible sodomy and witness tampering.
Carver is set to be sentenced on October 6th.
He faces up to 15 years on each count for a combined maximum sentence of 75 years.

I’m not saying this is right but a 17 year old “troubled” girl knew exactly what she was doing.
17 and 4 times, was that consensual
I know first hand Jon was a creep. I was a student at Alpine with the girl. And yes she is one of my friends but how he acted with her and other girls was VERY inappropriate. He was told many times not to be alone with her because other STUDENTS had made comments about their relationship to the other staff.
Like someone had commented before its illegal to have sex with someone when they’re in a residential treatment center. He was supposed to be a figure father to us NOT a friend which he acted like. And what really pisses me off is that, this ISN’T the first time this has happened within the school! Don’t say what you don’t know if you weren’t there and didn’t witness the relationship first hand you won’t really know.
Yeah, we will never know the complete truth and she is a doll.
i personally knew Jon Carver, and he did a couple creepy things but i would have never thought in a thousand years this would happen. I don’t know what to believe because some people i know are completely and totally conviced he didn’t do it… i will never know the complete truth but all i know is if he did do it he deserves more years in prison! his wife is a really good person and his daughter is the cutest thing ever they would never deserv anything like that.
I know the “victim” and she NEVER said no, according to her own words, she was an equal participant and pursued the relationship all on her own without any manipulation from him. It was still wrong of him, but certainly not rape or abuse. It’s disappointing to see what a failure our justice system is, waisting time and resources by incarcerating this guy instead of focusing on the real predators out there.

That girl could be 45 yrs old and it still could not be consentual if she is in a institution under pychiatric care.

not sure where you got your info, but I just checked, he never plead guilty to forcible sodomy, those charges were dropped. He plead guilty to forcible sexual abuse only – and the only reason it was “forcible” was because she was 17 instead of 18. Of course it was wrong either way, but seems strange to me that something that is illegal one day and legal the next is a felony?
I personally know and have worked with Jon for 3 years. He did not commit these acts he was accused of. He is an upstanding young man who would give you the last dollar to his name if he thought it would help you. He is very adamant in his religion and completely in love with and devoted to his wife and daughter. These atrosities came out of a sick fathers wanton need to sue the state for millions by forcing his daughter to make phony allegations against an innocent man!!!
What was accidently left out of your article was that Jonathan Carver admitted to two 1st degree felony counts of FORCIBLE SODOMY. Forcible Sodomy is NOT consentual sex and a Special needs Juvinile under psychiatric care could not give consent. Jonathan Carver is a college trained social worker and as such has been warned again and again that sex with such a child (And she is someones child.)would cause irrepairable damage. He did not care. Jonathan Carver had a beautiful wife and a great child (A baby) and he did not care a wit about their future. He shook the parents of this kids hands and said “Your Daughter is safe with me.” Then he raped her. How her Father kept from killing him is a miracle in itself, but a good thing, if the law works the way it should and puts that scumbag away for a long time.Jonathan Carver could be brought up on more charges with other girls but they would not be worse than the despicable act he has already admitted to. I know this first hand, it is not hearsay or conjecture. The world needs a long break from Jonathan Carver.
Nothing here even comes close to indicating he is a “child rapist” or “child molester.” Looks like a consensual, although illegal, relationship with a 17 year old – not what I’d call rape and I wouldn’t call her a child.
This guy doesn’t need prison, just a harsh reality check, which it looks like he already got. and concerned father – looking at the court records there was nothing ever about any other girl, if that were true don’t you think it would be reported somewhere? I’m not sure where you heard that information, but it’s inaccurate.

He betryed our trust and raped my daughters schoolmate. He displayed many more creepy things to many moore girls that came to light in his court appearances.
