John O. Thompson, 26, a social studies teacher at Sussex Central High School in Georgetown, Delaware has reportedly been arrested on allegations of having a sexual relationship with a 10th-grade student.
Thompson was reportedly arrested at the school today and charged with one count each of first degree rape and unlawful sexual contact.
Thompson came to the attention of authorities when two students came forward telling school administrators of the alleged improper relationship between Thompson and the student.
Investigators allege that the sexual assault occurred at Thompson’s residence and also allege that evidence indicates that inappropriate contact took place while the victim and Thompson were in his car.
Thompson was arraigned and his bail was set at $5,500 secured.

Girl’s, where’s your virtue? And, Boys (young man in this case), where’s your self-control. This was wrong on so many levels! It’s a product of our self-serving, feel good, gotta-have-it-now society. Both parties are at fault here. In fact, the girls parents are too – didn’t they teach their daughter how precious she is, how sacred sex is, and that it is not something to just be given away? And what was she doing drinking at a party? Obviously, he does not value women as God intended, nor did he have any self-worth. A teacher is not supposed to be a “buddy” to his students – he should be a firm, commanding presence in the classroom. How unprofessional – sad, sad. I’ll be praying for both parties…
It was so weird seeing him on the news being arrested he was my favorite teacher so funny a really good teacher he was the last person who you would expect to do something like that. the girl was in my same history class as me it was just so shocking to me.
I had thompson as a teacher that same year… The girl was in the classroom the whole time i was.. Meh.. I can believe it. Thompson looks like that kind of guy that would do it… I mean he was nice and stuff let us have our cells out and stuff and never took them when we weren’t supposed to have them out. But dann..

I never had thompson as a teacher but I was a friend of thompsons(yes I am a female,but I am of age…well over age)but anyway we had a close relationship and from wat I saw I never knew this could happen.but some of u make a gud point where were the administration at?I graduated from central and visit often and everytime I went there,there was always sum young girl in his face.the school needs to a:get stricter on dress codes and make not just girls but guys cover up and not let them go to school tryna look like a stripper!!b:make everyone where uniforms.he basically threw his life away and for what a 15 year.I sickens me to my soul for him to have done this.and when are principal last year dana goodman did the same thing he was the one upset that goodman was messing with little kids.now I guess all 3 of them can share a cell!
Even though this has happened I’m still proud to bleed Blue and Gold.
It’s very shocking to see this happen. I had him my 9th grade year; really great teacher too. He explained things really well. It’s a shame that he did it.
I hear that more people are being arrested.

Geez. I’m not sure if the people at this site are aware, but another teacher from our school, John George Rianus, was arrested and charged with sexual extortion and third-degree unlawful sexual contact.

I think people like this need to be sent to a special place where the victim’s families can exact whatever revenge they feel necessary. A teacher myself, I do not understand how a “Grown” man can look at a girl of that age and have those feelings…they are CHILDREN!!! So to all those out there who are currently having affairs with students I think this is a wake-up call…STOP!!! After all do you really trust you freedom, career, and life on the premise that a 15 year old girl will keep your little secret? Shame on you John Thompson, shame on you and your parents who obviously did a crappy job raising you. And to the victim and their family, I hope that this experience does not cast too dark a shadow on the educational system, not all of us are pedophile, rapist, (Expletive deleted by site moderator).
I’ve known him for three years, it was a shock to me that he would have done such a thing. Then again she hung out in his room a lot. One time about 31/2 months ago he asked her where she lived. All i have to say is that he messed up his life. And the night before he made a speech about how to live your life. A lot of the seniors looked up to him being a role model and basketball coach. He even coached pop warner football along with girls basketball. Well I guess no one’s perfect. Thanks

honestly i think this some (Expletive deleted by site moderator) people make mistakes everyday and dont think once she probably didn’t force herself on him. It’s kinda hard when you spend your days at school with a half desent girl in front of you always lingering around and wont go to class. But this is what gets me she had to skip some of her classes to go to his classroom where the hell was the administartors then.
I knew this would get on here sooner or later. Sad. Look at how dead his eyes are. One night he’s giving a speech at graduation about how to live life, and the next his professional life is over. Also, what’s with all these fat bald guys gettin’ them young broads? Ha cha cha cha cha!
