John Holler
Posted by: Webmaster in California, Hall of Shame, High Schools, Language Arts, ME-FV(11/09/07 - Initial BBT Report)
John Christopher Holler, 41, an English instructor at West Hills High School in Santee, California has been arrested on suspicion of having sex with a 17-year-old female student.

Holler was placed on administrative leave on Tuesday and arrested around mid-day today.
The investigation began after allegations surfaced that a teacher was having sex with a female student. Reportedly several students contacted a local tv station saying that the allegations were about Holler and a student. Many of the students praised Holler, saying they could not believe the allegations were true.
Holler is reportedly a very popular teacher. The school district web site indicates that Holler received the annual Golden Apple award in May 2007 for West Hills High School. Award winners are selected by the student body and according to the district web site must, among other things, “like his or her job and the students … be a good role model and set a good example”.
11/19/07 - Court Appearance
John Holler made a court appearance Monday and entered a not guilty plea to two counts of rape with a foreign object, two counts of molesting a child and one count of approaching a minor for sex.
A preliminary hearing is set for January 24th and Holler remains free on $175,000 bail.
Holler was ordered to have no contact with the alleged victim, stay away from minors unless an adult was present and not to contact students at West Hills High School.
2/21/08 - Guilty Plea
John Christopher Holler pleaded guilty today to sexually assaulting a 17-year-old female student.
In exchange for the guilty plea charges of rape with a foreign object and two counts of attending or arranging a meeting with a minor were dropped.
Judge Patricia K. Cookson indicated that she will likely place Holler on probation at an April 23 sentencing hearing.
In the meantime, Holler remains free on $175,000 bond.
04/23/08 - Sentencing
John Holler has been sentenced to six months in jail for sexually assaulting a 17-year-old student.
Reportedly both the victim and her family pleaded for leniency for Holler.

Isn’t “molesting a student” one sided? Seems to me like it was consentual. “both sides” took part in this game even though she wasn’t of legal age by law here in the US. Both parties were at fault, yes both… As the first poster mentioned, “We are all Human, we all make mistakes”. Are we not? Do we not? We are. We do.
Everywhere you go, you are going to see the limits being tested. Whether the limits be constitutional, physical, biological, social, mechanical and even educational. How far do we have to go before we all look in the mirror if we do get a chance.
West Hills Parent… My sentiments exactly.

I had Mr. Holler both my freshman and senior years and he was one of my 3 favorite teachers at that school. he made me smile when i was down. I can understand him making a mistake not that its ok but the girl was 17 thats sooo close to being 18 i think sometimes the law goes down to hard on situations like this.
anyways for future reference to all those teachers out there and especially Mr. Holler if you wanna sleep with a student wait till their legal like mr Hall did! but dont be an ass and make it a one night stand also like Mr. Hall…..Now there is someone who should be in jail.

First off - to West Hills Alumni, post of 11/21 - if you learned nothing else in this lifetime, please remember we’re all innocent until PROVEN guilty. To the best of my knowledge, nothing has yet to be proven. And please don’t speak as if he were dead - he still IS an excellent teacher. He’s just not teaching at the moment.
I have to chime in here. My daughter is a student at West Hills, and had Mr. Holler as a teacher. He truly is an outstanding teacher, one who makes learning fun but doesn’t let the students get by easily. People were shocked by the allegations, as, according to the students with whom I’ve spoken, he’s never demonstrated anything remotely close to this type of behavior. I’m anxious to hear the whole story. I’ll wager there’s more to it than we all know.

It is unfortunate to see something like this happen. He was an excellent teacher. Am I sad about this? Yes. Will I forgive him? Perhaps. Should he still go to prison? Yes.
As a teacher, it was his own responsibility and his own judgement to know that messing with high school girls is absolutely wrong. Yes, he made a mistake but he must take the consequences for that mistake.
Unfortunately, that “molesting a child” charge is not very well received by the jail’s occupants. And I’m not saying that to be cruel-hearted, it is just a fact of life.
Sorry about this whole thing Mr. Holler. You were truly an inspiration for me but my respect for you has gone. I guess now, all I have left is the aspiration to become more than what you turned out to be.
Sorry.

I had Mr.Holler my Jr year and he was a great teacher. He was very strange but not in a bad way at all.It is very sad that he is involved in such a mess, but we all make mistakes no one is perfect and there are two people in the wrong here, yes he is an adult but the student is almost and 17 yr olds now a days are not by any means innocent! He got caught up and made a huge mistake. He was a great teacher and I am very saddened by this story. My heart goes out to him and his family.

So I guess that makes the best English teacher ever a registered sex offender. Well in that case I have something to say:
We are all Human, we all make mistakes, but if we ask for forgiveness and REALLY mean it then we should be forgiven. After all God forgives EVERYONE, all you have to do is ask.
And this is not coming from some naive student on holler’s side. This is coming from the niece of two registered sex offenders who have apologized and have devoted their souls to Jesus.
So to all you viewers, please take into consideration everything you and maybe someone you love have done wrong. Would like to be forgiven?
And to Mr. Holler: RABBITS ARE THE SAME AS FROGS! LOL
