John Robert James Cody, 39, a history teacher at Pine View High School in St. George, Utah has reportedly been arrested on allegations of the sexual abuse of three females, ages 18, 15 and 12-years-old.
Reportedly, Cody was arrested on Friday and was booked on two counts of sexual abuse of a child, lewdness and attempted sexual abuse.
It is alleged that “there was some kind of incident” involving Cody and the alleged victims during the time frame from June 2008 and August 2009.
Following his arrest and booking, Cody was reportedly freed on $26,850 bond.
The alleged incidents are reported to have taken place at the Coral Canyon Club House and the alleged victims are not Cody’s students.
A school system spokesperson has indicated that Cody has taught at Pine View High School for about ten years and has been placed on administrative leave.
10/14/09 – Case Update
Reportedly, Cody is now charged with two counts of sexual abuse of a child, forcible sexual abuse and sexual battery.
All of the alleged incidents involve allegations that Cody fondled two girls and a woman at his apartment complex pool.
In June 2008, Cody allegedly grabbed a woman’s breast and touched a girl underneath her bathing suit.
In August, another girl reported that he had thrown her into the pool two times, touching her underneath her bathing suit each time. This alleged victim contacted her mother and later identified Cody through the school Web site and a distinctive tattoo on his arm.
Reportedly the two previous victims had described the same tattoo but had been unable to identify the alleged attacker.

i went to high school with john in cody wyoming,nothing unusual about his behavior there,but there was alot of rumors and allegations about misconnduct with the girls in cody high when he was a teacher there,not sure whether he did what they say but i dont want my daughter being in his class,and if he is guilty,let the fathers of the girls choose his fate,if it was my little girl they would never find the one who hurt her
I am currently a student of Mr. Cody’s. Jack- Maybe you don’t remember, but every student in his class has an A. You had to try not to get an A grade. As far as “incidents”, why didn’t you say or do anything about it? He is a flirtatious, fun-loving guy. It’s his personality. You know as well as I do that the attractive young women always get more attention, rather it be from Mr. Cody, or the other students.

I was a student of Mr. Cody’s at pine view high school, and i remember several incidents involving him and specific girls in my class. Good looking girls always got an automatic A, no matter what. It was always suspected, its about time he got caught.

He threw some girls in the pool and supposedly touched them under their swimsuit when he did? Sounds hard to do for one and a lot like a scandal to me. Not to mention it was at the apartment complex pool right out in the open for everyone to see, I don’t buy this one.
Humm….grew up with John, can’t say he was any different then any one else. I can not pass judgement. Why would he put himself in this position knowing he would be caught? Sounds like a scandal to me.
It’s at an apartment complex pool where the incidents are alleged to have happened. That helps explain the age range of the victims. Must’ve had some corraborating evidence against Cody to arrest him, eh?

He was my teacher when he was in Wyoming and there were a lot of rumors that he was having sex with students at the time.
