Joey A. Lehrman, 22, an English teacher at L. W. Higgins High School in Marrero, Louisiana has been arrested after three students and a substitute teacher claimed they saw him masturbating, alone, inside a classroom on Wednesday.

Reportedly Lehrman was arrested for obscenity and was initially being held in the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center in Gretna in lieu of $5,000 bond.

Police say that Lehrman admitted to unbuckling his pants and rubbing lotion on his lower stomach, adding he did this because of a medical condition. Police also indicated that Lehrman also said he rubbed lotion on his genitalia.

At least one news media report indicates that the arrest report indicates that Lehrman admitted to police that he masturbated.

Reportedly, Lehrman is a member of Teach For America and is not a fully certified teacher. A school spokesperson said that Lehrman has been teaching at the school since August 2008 and is currently suspended without pay.
