No matter what anyone of you say, no matter what he did or did not do.
Joe Gilbreth has been nothing but an amazing person to me and I will support him through whatever obstacles may come.
I am ashamed of you who have the arrogance to judge him for something that you don’t know is true. Putting your trust into the local news is just an ignorance.
Mr. G, I miss you greatly! You have been a great influence on my life!
Who Ever said we never had first hand experience with him? I believe most of the negative stuff you have heard is from someone who has worked and/or marched with him.
Lets all remember one thing, it has been 8 days since the news broke and there is still no arrest and still no charges. Also, as I read all the comments I keep coming back to the fact that although we are all entitled to our opinions, there seems to me that there are WAY too many opinions out there that are based on purely hearsay, gossip, and/or things you have heard on the colorguard hotline. The plethera of opinions appear to be based on each individuals experiences with Joe, good bad or indifferent. What bothers me most is those of you who have had no first hand experiences with Joe, yet you judge him based on what you have heard through the grapevine, media, etc., I don’t believe there is one of you out there who hasn’t made some pretty serious mistakes in your life that you are sorry and regretful for, but in the end there were people loving you, supporting you and believing in you regardless of what you did or were suppose to have done. In this case we really don’t know now do we? There are only a few select people privy to that information right now, and no one is talking, no more news is spreading across the TV and newspapers, heck the media is on to the next explosive story, and now a man with whom I have had nothing but good experiences with has had his life turned upside down, inside out and every other which way. Even after I read all of the things that have been written in the past week I have not changed my opinion of Joe, and you can call that what you want, I call it giving someone the benefit of the doubt and not condemning him because of what you are saying because of what you are hearing or your experiences. Your experiences are yours and mine are mine. I wish Joe the best of luck and pray that he and his family and friends get through this with as little scars as possible.
Being involved in the colorguard activity I’ve learned several things. The colorguard world is a world filled with gossip and rumors. It is very caddy(sp?) It has it’s own unique network system. News spreads fast and you get to know who to stay away from and who to stay close with. I’m not saying it’s a bad world, it’s just not the real world. I am not a friend of Joe’s, but I have come across his path many a times. Funny how in the social aspects of colorguard, he is known by his peers to be a shady character. Sure maybe he has done wonders by getting groups to become competitive again, but that doesn’t mean that beyond the gym doors he is the same person. Ever wonder why he never stays at one job/colorguard for a long period of time? Hmmm…think about it….it’s not because of he got a better job…it’s because he needs a job. Joe usually works at a school for a year or so…when that program figures him out…he moves to the next place that will pay him any kind of money. And remember i didn’t say more money, i just said money. That guy is a Suckubus. Just keeps sucking the money out of everyone he can, then moves to the next place.
Look, say what you want about this. Believe it or don’t believe it. All I ask is that you look at the other side also. This could have never happened, or it could have happened. We dont’ know the full truth yet. Disregarding this situation and arrest….lets just talk about Joe as a person. There are many people who have their story about Joe. Some good, and some bad. Take the time to ask yourself…..”yes i may have learned alot from him, he never did anything wrong to me….but could he have done alot of wrong to other people? Are these other stories that I hear about Joe true? and does this make Joe the kind of role model you want for yourself, your friends, and children?”
Example, I love Michael Jackson’s music. I think his older stuff is the jam. He’s taught me alot about music and dance. Does this mean i think he is a good person? No….he’s got a problem with children.
BTW, it’s colorguard people. He may have taught some amazing things…but please don’t say that he is the person that made you who you are today. Try thanking your parents and friends for making you the person you are today. And if you are a student that says Joe is your friend….maybe you need to rethink the student/teacher relationship and draw that huge black line. I have rollers from floor painting if you need to draw one.
all i can say is im glad i never “worshiped him” like many people in my Guard did. i knew he was nothing and only tried to make us think he was and i knew he alwalys favored the boys more….. i really feel for his guards this season though, even though it would have been the same shows and work that eveyone has seen a hunded times thats not something you want with your schools name. your not guilty until proven but i would not put it past him. and you know he never got up to show you anything on equipment it was alwalys someone else. it makes you think what else he did with males…now eveything is coming together why he never got to come down and help us. thanks for the pearl harbor show joe, and i hope you get what you deserve and that you take care!!
Y’all… Ex student’s got it right 100%. Sorry to say it, but those who knew Joe best should not be surprised by what has happened. And if you thought that Joe Gilbreth was an honest and caring man then you didn’t actually know him.
Have any of y’all actually talked to him about this?
I have.
I don’t hate Joe.
Just telling it like it is.
RIDICULOUS…So you’re a former nolanite too huh? You must have marched the A guard in Houston, maybe that was run better than when it was a world guard. First of all I didn’t get called out at all because I could out spin him any day. Second of all he didn’t really teach much. The captains usually cleaned during rehearsal and they were the ones who taught me. As far as the money thing goes, it’s obvious that the people that he favored didn’t have to pay ANYTHING while others got screwed. If you don’t know what went on behind the scenes, especially in the world guard, then please don’t respond! You obviously know nothing about that! So to all the cheap asses that got to march for free because he was either screwing them or because he needed the people to field a guard, please stop hating on the people who paid for YOU to march because it sure as hell wasn’t him! I paid my dues in full and then some….
