Jennifer Lea Burton, 39, a coach and teacher at Orangefield Junior High School in Orangefield, Texas has been indicted by an Orange County Grand Jury on three counts of sexual assault and three counts of improper relationship between an educator and student.
KBMT TV reports that the alleged victim is a 15-year-old female student and that the alleged improper relationship went on between September and November 2008.
Reportedly, Orangefield school Superintendent Philip Welch says Burton is on leave pending a special board meeting next week.
The Orange Leader reports that bond for Burton has been set at $15,000 for each of the sexual assault counts and $10,000 for each of the improper relationship counts.
Reportedly, authorities have indicated that Burton needs to turn herself in or face arrest.
04/13/09 – Burton Resigns
Jennifer Burton, who has been on administrative leave since late March, has reportedly submitted a letter of resignation to the school district.
Burton is reportedly free on bond.
07/10/09 – Jennifer Burton Headed To Trial
Jennifer Lea Burton, through her attorney, has announced she will go to trial on three counts each of sexual assault of a child and improper relationship between an educator and student.
The assistant district attorney handling the case said that he will seek a trial date in late summer or early fall but that he is willing to discuss a plea bargain agreement with the defense even though it was announced they wanted a trial.
08/19/09 – Jennifer Burton Arrested and Jailed
Jennifer Burton has been re-arrested and jailed on allegations that she continues having inappropriate relations with a 14-year-old student.
Burton is reportedly being held in the Orange County Jail in lieu of $180,000 bond on three charges of sexual assault of a child and three charges of having inappropriate relations with a student and police say Burton now faces more charges.
Burton surrendered to authorities following a court hearing after information surfaced that she had met the 14-year-old again at least twice.
08/27/09 – Guilty Plea and Sentencing
Jennifer Lea Burton has, in a plea deal with prosecutors, pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual assault and one count of improper relationship between educator and student. As part of the plea deal, prosecutors dropped one count of sexual assault and two counts of improper relationship
Burton was sentenced to ten years in prison on each count with the sentences to run concurrently.
Burton is also required to register as a sex offender.

You are seeing this every week now with female teachers and are going to continue to see it even more where it wont even be reported. Women have been brainwashed by television and movies and are now completely screwed up as they are being pulled in twenty different directions trying to please each crowd. This is what the NOW organazation doesnt want you to know.
I recently talked with a friend of mine that owns a video store, he told me that 80% of his business for porn is from women. Trust me as a succesful businessman in my mid thirties I date alot of women and the majority when they are being truthful are completely torn as to who they are and who they are supposed to be. I feel sorry for them, but like I said if your not a grounded woman you can sucked up in the tide and find yourself living a wild life and realize too late that there are consequences.
So the teacher should have thought about it before becomming involved with a student. But remember a 15 year old girl can say no too. I remember what it was like being a 15 year old. There is a big difference her between 15 and smaller children.
I’m not frightened by it…just good n pissed off…when my daughter was a girl in sports I had words with a few coaches about hugging girls in general and my daughter in particular…a bunch of perves…and perves go where the kids are…schools, boys and girls clubs, church activities for teens, boy and girl scouts….parents must be parents and educated their children…
There are rumblings now in some of the comments sections of news stories that there is video evidence, her own daughter suspected, and the husband has filed for divorce. I smell plea deal.
I went to high school with Jennifer. WOW! Sure has stired up alot of emotion in our hometown. As a father of two daughters — this frightens me a great deal.
The indictment states that she penetrated the girl, that she gave the girl oral sex, and she received oral sex from the girl. This is more than an “inappropriate relationship.” This was full-on sex. If she really did this, and she gets off with anything but several years in jail, then there’s no hope for America’s justice system.
I forgot to mention that I wonder if this case, if it turns out to be true, will garner as much national attention as the case in Florida did with the hot married woman who nailed a male student. I’d say that this is more sensational, not only because of the lesbian aspect but also because the victim might/probably knew the perpetrator’s daughter from school.
Let’s not convict her before she’s had her trial. But, yes, it is entirely true that men are so often viewed as evil and women get a free pass on so many things.
She is certainly the “hottest” woman I’ve seen accused of a sex crime, other than the one woman in Australia who actually was convicted last year–she was really attractive, and like this woman, she too was married. I can think of at least four women teachers, other than Jennifer, who have destroyed their marriages by having an affair with an underaged girl. It’s not a victimless crime, and when a family is destroyed the number of victims exponentially increases.
Lame:I believe your post highlights the lie that these cases are victimless crimes.No one lives in a bubble.There actions effect more than just the abused student.My heart goes out to this victim and this woman’s children I can not even imagine how difficult this must be on them.
It’s getting so you can’t trust your female daughter around her gym teacher/coach, even when the teacher is married with kids.

Not only does she have a daughter, but the daughter went to the same school as her victim. They might have known each other.
She turned herself in, posted bail. She was married with 2 wonderful children. I really wish they would leave them out of the details.
