Jennifer Diane Bland, 23, a Spanish teacher at Durand High School in Durand, Illinois has reportedly been arrested on allegations of having inappropriate contact with four male students.
Reportedly, Bland initially faced 6 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse and following arraignment she was released on $20,000 bond.
It is alleged that Bland had sexual contact with four male students who are between the ages of 14 and 17, with the first alleged incident occurring last spring and the most recent alleged incidents occurring in September and October.
Three hours after posting bond Thursday night, Bland was re-arrested after two additional students come forward, saying they had sexual relations with Bland.
As a result of the latest allegations, Bland is now facing a total of 19 charges, including twelve counts aggravated criminal sexual abuse, six counts of criminal sexual assault and one count of solicitation to meet a minor.
Bond for Bland was increased to $250,000 and she was being held in the Winnebago County jail in lieu of bond.
Bland came to the attention of the Durand Police when a call came in expressing concerns about Bland’s behavior. Durand Police requested assistance from the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department and an investigation was begun.
Bland’s next court date is set for November 19th.
Reportedly, Bland has been placed on paid administrative leave by the school system.
12/15/09 – Not Guilty Plea To Latest Charge
Jennifer Bland has entered a not guilty plea to a charge alleging she had a pornographic picture of a minor.
The most recent charge against Bland was reportedly filed last week.
Reportedly, Bland is currently free on bail awaiting trial.

Kathy, not to be rude or anything, but it sounds as if you’re saying its ok for teachers to send nasty pictures to students and not have any consequences. That’s stupid. It’s not ok. I agree with Guru. Even if you are overprotective, your kids are still going to go behind your back. That’s how kids are.
And I’m sad that these things are happening to Durand. It’s caused soo much stress for us. And I wish the bad publicity would go away. I think a lot of us are still hurt from this whole experience with Meier and Bland.

Great. I own a decent house at Lake Summerset in the Durand district. Now, this ho is on house arrest just down the road from me off Blackhawk in Rockford at my other home. no escaping the perverts. She has to stay at her fathers house. Unfortunatly since she hasnt been convicted yet, the neighborhood has no idea there is child predator in the hood.
Her husband did file for divorce the beginning of November. I really feel sorry for him. His teaching career is shot and he didnt even know what she was into. Super decent guy and as clean as they come.
Kathy, I feel bad for your kids over protective mothers are the worst type of parent. I don’t care how much you spy on them, if they want to do something you won’t be able to stop them.

I was not born in the 1950’s. If you have childen and you have a computer at your house and have the internet and you let your children use it. As a responsible parent you monitor their activity. Same goes for the cell phones. You monitor their activity. And in todays world it is not hard to do those things. If you have children and don’t feel that you can monitor their activity, then don’t have kids. Do you not monitor your children with who they date, where they go. If not you should. There are too many perverts out their waiting to get their hands on our children that are not properly supervised.

1950 called. They said you can come home when you’re ready. Seriously, we live in a different age and time. Parenting isn’t as simple as it used to be. June and Ward didn’t have to keep the Beav off internet porn sites, right? I know I did a lot of bad things growing up, but it wasn’t because I was raised wrong. Some nerve people have to immediately blame the parents. I’m pretty sure there’s as many men and women on this site that were raised by loving, caring and religious families and they too have strayed from the pack of decent human behaviour. Hell, growing up the preacher’s kids were bigger whores than the girls TRYING to be tramps.
Mrs Bland is innocent until proven quilty. If these kids were getting naked pictures of Mrs. Bland then why did it not get reported then and their. I want to see proof. Why aren’t paretns checking the childrens text messages? Maybe these kids dont need cell phones. Why are parents today not looking at their kids facebook and myspace. DO YOU PARENTS REALLY KNOW WHAT YOUR CHILDREN ARE DOING. From what I have seen at the behavior that is allowed on Durand School property – is this all of Mrs. Blands fault……………….Staff allowing inappropiate behavior and they think it is funny and kids should not have their cell phones and using them during school hours or even on school property. When you witnessed the homecoming dance and saw what they call the bump and grind dance. If this kids had been on the street doing this dance they would have been arrested for indecent behavior. If the principal thinks they are just having fun, then the school is approving of this kind of behavior, then what is wrong with the kids having naked pictures of a 22 year old on their phones. Lets not kid ourselfes we know these kids have sent naked pictures of themselves to other people, so is anything being done about that behavior.
I am so embarassed to have just graduated from Durand. This all started last school year, when she was texting and sending pictures of herself to male students.
I know of so many male students who have told me she sent them pictures…. they have told me they were naked pictures. This is so dissapointing because its the first time the authorities have been contacted, but there has been other innapropriate teacher-student contact going on in the past. I never did know that she had sex with students for sure until the news outbreak, but i know that she never acted like a teacher should.
By the way, this teacher has (had) a husband who works in the same school building as her. she is so innapropriate.
I honestly hope that the other “teachers” learn a lesson from this.

Jen is a nice girl that I have known a long time – I just do not understand this whole thing. We are praying for her, her husband, her family and the students involved.
This poor girl was too young and inexperience to teach teenagers. She looks so sad.
