Jenifer Stitzel, 34, a preschool teacher at Central Valley Adventist Academy near Tangent, Oregon has reportedly been arrested on allegations of inappropriate relationship with a 14-year-old male student.

Reportedly, Stitzel faces two counts of third-degree sex abuse, a misdemeanor offense.

Stitzel came to the attention of authorities by way of a complaint by the boys’ parents who allegedly discovered text messages containing sexual content on his cell phone. The parents called the principal and, as mandatory reporters, the school contacted the sheriff’s office.

Detectives say that in addition to the text messages, the woman and boy had kissed and had other inappropriate contact both on and off school grounds.

After booking at the Linn County Jail, Stizel was released and scheduled to appear Dec. 23 in Linn County Circuit Court.

02/08/10 – Case Continued Again

Jenifer Stitzel was due in court both February 1st and today, but attorneys asked to have the case set over once again.

Stitzel is now scheduled to appear on February 22.

She remains free on her own recognizance.

03/30/10 – Guilty Plea and Sentencing

On February 22, Jenifer Stitzel in a plea deal with prosecutors, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor counts of third-degree sexual abuse and furnishing sexually explicit material to a child.

On Monday, Stitzel was sentenced to 21 days in jail.

In addition to her jail time, Stitzel will be required to serve 24 months of supervised probation that restricts her use of cell phones, other digital storage devices and the Internet.

It addition, Stitzel’s contact with minors, including the victim and his family, will be restricted.

    21 days in jail. Really?!? That’s it? What a joke. If the tables were turned, and the teacher was a male with a female student, he’d be in prison for years, not days. What a double standard.

    A serious crime. The more manifest evidence that a 14 yo teenager think with the wrong head.
