Jason Garant Perkins, 38, a former social studies teacher at Woods Charter School in Chapel Hill, North Carolina has been charged with 10 felony counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.
Perkins came to the attention of authorities when he allegedly solicited an undercover officer online on Febuary 13.
The current charges against Perkins result from the alleged discovery of images of a young girl engaged in sexual acts alone and with an adult male on Perkins home computer.
Following his arrest Perkins was released on a $250,000 bond conditioned upon his not having contact with anyone under the age of 18 without supervision.
Perkins resigned from the school one day before charges were filed.
10/14/08 - Guilty Plea and Sentencing
Today Jason Perkins pleaded guilty to 10 counts of second-degree exploitation of a minor.
Following his guilty plea Perkins was sentenced to a 16- to 20-month suspended prison term, with a requirement to spend 20 days in jail on weekends and five years on probation.
Perkins must register as a sex offender and complete the sex offender control program.
He will also be required to submit to random computer searches.

okay. mr perkins worked at my school before he went to where evr. and he was a pretty good teacher no doubt about it. and i feel terible for his wife and kids. but he got what he deserved. its rly sad how things work out tho.

I in no way believe that he did it… He was a great teacher and he taught my history class at cape… I have gone to his house and spent time with his wife and kids and him they were very happy and makes it hard to believe some bull(****) like this… And if you think about it he has a young son so you never know it could have been his sons pics… AND FOR ALL OF YALL WHO THINK THAT JASON PERKINS IS A BAD MAN YOU CAN ALL GO TO HELL HE WAS A GREAT MAN AND A GREAT TEACHER…. AND LETS NOT FORGET HE HAS A YOUNG SON SO YOU NEVER REALLY KNOW NOW DO YOU… DONT TALK (****) IF YOU DONT KNOW THE PERSON GETTING CHARGED
