Janmattie Singh, 22, an English teacher at Richmond Hill High School in Queens, New York has been arrested and charged with third-degree rape and endangering the welfare of a child.
It alleged that Singh had sex with a 15-year-old male student and his two 18-year-old cousins.
Allegedly Singh called one of the 18-year-old boys, reportedly a former student, in January indicating she wanted to have sex with the boy. It is further alleged that when the boy told Singh he couldn’t get away because he was with his two cousins. Investigators say that Singh then went to the Brooklyn home where the boys were and had sex with them.
It is also alleged that a month later Singh had sex with the two older boys at her apartment.
Singh’s lawyer says that she was victimized by the boys.
Singh’s attorney said that after suffering a nervous breakdown Singh was on medication at the time she had sex with the teenagers, referring to the boys as “three sexual predators” and said that they were aware that Singh was on prescription drugs at the time they invited her to their place.
Singh was arraigned and following arraignment was held on $7,500 bond.
If convicted of all charges she faces a maximum of four years in prison.

To the teacher and Jane doe:
In my opinion its both the kids and the entire staff at “that” school.Some of the ignorant teachers slack around and do absolutly nothing and are extremely lazy at taking attendance.The kids act like a bunch of zoo animals and the deans seem to be having friendly relationships with the students sneaking them out of school and allowing certain out of control kids to have their way affecting kids who want to learn.This is stuff that nobody can cope with.Not to mention that the school is a scam,each kid they suck up the school gains cash talk about an entire human piggy bank their holding up in there!!!!!! And not to mention that the asistant principal walks around looking like some degenrant pornstar.

She didn’t do anything so wrong. Sex with a 15 year old?? How do you know? Who is making this allegation and what proof are they offering. Forget sex with 18 year olds. That is not against the law. This is fraught with lies and distortions. If I were in that part of the US I would have taken her case pro bono and beat back the barbarians making such heinous allegations against this wonderful teacher. The 15 year old should be thankful he had such good instruction. It will help him in later life.

Ok look yes i do believe she was wrong for what she did…BUT…I know she is a wonderful person and everyone knew she had a mental disorder. Plus if u think about it how stupid are these kids to not know taking advantage of a teacher that was going in and out of the hospital is wrong. I think these students are just as bad, or even worse.

I’m a school teacher and I ask you: Did you know the consequences of having children, that it’s a 24/7 job? You’re one of those parents who view teachers as babysitters and expect us teach your kids manners along with academics. Stop whining about how difficult being a parent is. Try teaching a class full of 30+ children with behavioral problems who received little supervision because of people like you who are too lazy to be real parents to them. Being a teacher has very little perks. Other than summers off, which we need because we really need the rest, teaching is far from glamorous or easy–we work 12-16 hours a day. Recruited teachers do not get good money and a free college degree. They have to work for the Masters degree and they start off at a sub-subsistence level salary and are assigned to the worst schools, and they’re often assigned to teach special-ed kids.
And believe it or not, most foreign teachers are more qualified to teach than American teachers. Teachers abroad have higher social status because they have to meet higher academic requirements. I dare you to teach a class at a ghetto school like Richmond Hill for one day to see how it feels to have kids talk back at you and even physically assault you.

Two 18 year olds and 15 year old… yeah she’s a predator my @$$. All four of them got exactly what they wanted, make no mistake about that. Personally, I say that the public knowing she’s a (*****) who’s willing to have three guys at once is more than enough punishment. To each their own, she likes 4somes, move on.

I know her personally and she is a cool female man. This I cannot believe. What she may have done is wrong but consent is the word here. This feels more like a setup… Sorry just seems like it…

English teacher and had nervous breakdown , who hired her? My child goes to that school. and that the majority of teachers do not care about the students. He has a TOUGH time with Math, as the teacher does not really pay attention to their weakness, etc. I have tork 8 hours a day and then spend 4 hours in the evening to help my child. This is so unfair to us, who work the whole day and then come home to work again. Another thing, these teachers feel that these students should be referred to Summer school, and the reason why they don’t care.
This Education system is going down, because mpst of the teachers who were recruited only hang in there because of the money and free college degree and other opportunities they are offered. Most of these FOREIGN teachers need to be properly SUPERVISED to assess if they are really qualified to teach. This is the problem and nothing has been done to resolve this,

I went to school with Janmattie. She was always very quiet. With the combo of insecurity, lack of attention, and a nervous breakdown it could have all played a part in what happened. Where are the parents? Why are they not monitering where their kids are. Its easy to point fingers but I am sure that the students and Janmattie were communicating for quite some time now. Why were the parents not aware. Its still no excuse. What she did was totally wrong. Just another sad story.
