(05/02/08 - Initial BBT Report)
Jack W. McLaughlin, 71, a tenured teacher who taught theater at San Jacinto High School in San Jacinto, California has been arrested on allegations of molesting a boy at his school.
It is alleged that McLaughlin had been molesting the boy for about nine months, beginning when the boy was under 14-years-old.
McLaughlin charged with two counts of oral copulation with a person under 16 and four counts of lewd and lascivious behavior with a child under 14.
McLaughlin remains in custody in lieu of $50,000 bail and he is set for arraignment on Monday.
He has been placed on administrative leave by the school system.

I was in theater for four years with him and graduated a long time ago. I am not surprised by this at all! I am proud of the kid for having the guts to go to the police about what Mac was doing. I know for a fact that there are other students that were offered sexual favors over the years and a few of them were guys. So, KJ, he was not homophobic at all. He was actually quite “helpful” to kids that were struggling with their sexuality.

I had mr. mac 2 years of high school an i beleave it he used to stare an flirt with me but i thought that he was just being a old man an funny I seen this comeing a mile away.

To the above person, i ALSO spent all four years with mac, i was at one time closer to him than ANYONE else, and he picked the same people because noone else was good enough to lead the theater. Thats what a good theater is supposed to be, you earn the parts you get, which the people picked did. However, i agree he never really taught, and he eventually screwed up my senior year by bringing religion into his class and harrassing me over his beliefs that i didnt share. I believe that these allegations are possibly true, but they are very sad. Funny to think just last year, Mr mac won teacher of the year, and now hes in jail. Honestly, he was known for making alot of sexual innenudos, but he was very homophobic behind closed doors, so i dont really believe this either. Who knows, we will know, but the theater will be better off in other hands.
