Ivan Chavez

Ivan Chavez, 24, a former girls’ soccer coach at De Anza Senior High School in Richmond, California is being held on suspicion of having unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor and contacting a minor with intent to commit a sexual offense.

Reportedly Chavez was on felony probation at the time he allegedly raped the girl and is being held without bail for an alleged violation his parole from the earlier case.

A school spokesperson said that Chavez coached at the school for two seasons during the 2004-2005 and 2005-2006 school years.

Richmond police are still investigating the case and believe there could be more victims.

Police are asking that anyone with information about the case call Sgt. Brian Dickerson at (510) 620-6668.

    Thanks Nancy.

    Sometimes we get it wrong and in this case we got it wrong when we indicated that De Anza Senior High School was located in Richmond, Virginia.

    Our mistake has now been corrected.
