William Lee Hunter Jr., 41, a former teacher at Springdale Elementary School in Tulsa, Oklahoma who previously pleaded guilty to child pornography charges has been arrested again, this time on felony peeping tom charges.

Hunter came to the attention of authorities when a current Springdale Elementary School teacher went to use one of the school video cameras and found a tape inside. When she viewed the tape it allegedly showed Hunter placing the video camera inside the vent in the boy’s restroom.

Police say that the 62 minute long recording contains sounds from the bathroom but no identifiable children can be seen on the video.

In a plea deal with prosecutors, Hunter pleaded guilty in September 2007 to downloading and viewing child pornography on a public computer terminal at the downtown Tulsa City-County library. Under the terms of the plea agreement, Hunter received a four-year suspended sentence, was ordered to pay a $500 fine, a $250 victims compensation assessment and court costs.

10/01/08 – Guilty Plea

William Hunter has pleaded guilty to spying on little boys in the restroom at Springdale Elementary School.

Hunter is currently serving four years probation on a child pornography charge will be sentenced in November.

11/17/08 – Sentencing

William Lee Hunter Jr. has been sentenced to 6½ years in prison for pornography and “peeping Tom” crimes.

The breakdown of Hunter’s sentence was 2½ years on the peeping Tom offense and Hunter’s previously suspended sentence on the child pornography count was revoked and he was sentenced to a four year prison term on that count with the two sentences to run consecutively.

William Lee Hunter Jr., 41, a former teacher at Springdale Elementary School in Tulsa, Oklahoma has pleaded guilty to charges of procuring or possessing child pornography.

In a plea deal with prosecutors, Hunter pleaded guilty to downloading and viewing child pornography on a public computer terminal at the downtown Tulsa City-County library. Under the terms of the plea agreement, Hunter received a four-year suspended sentence. Hunter was also ordered to pay a $500 fine, a $250 victims compensation assessment and court costs.

According to Hunter’s attorney, the case was resolved under a statute that does NOT require Hunter to register as a sex offender, although it does put a felony conviction on his record which will supposedly preclude Hunter from teaching again.

According to police reports, on July 2nd, a library security guard noted suspicious behavior by Hunter at the library and “watched his activity from a covert position.”

The guard saw Hunter download and view child pornography and called police who arrived while Hunter was still using the computer. Hunter in a statement to police said that when he sat down at the computer it was already displaying the child porn. He also allegedly stated that he did browse the web site and viewed the videos.

Hunter who had been a teacher with Tulsa Public Schools since 2002 had resigned at the end of the just concluded school year.
