Renee Smith, 37, a former special education teacher at Springfield High School, in Springfield Township, Ohio who pleaded guilty last month to charges of sexual battery of one male student and furnishing drugs to him and another male student has been sentenced.

Smith has been sentenced to two years in prison and will be required to register as a sex offender for life.

Smith whose teacher’s license has already been revoked pleaded guilty to giving drugs to two boys and having a two-year sexual relationship with a now 17-year-old boy.

Renee Smith, 37, a former special education teacher at Springfield High School, in Springfield Township, Ohio has pleaded guilty to charges of sexual battery, corrupting another with drugs and furnishing alcohol to a minor.

Smith acknowledged conducting a two-year sexual relationship with one of her students beginning when he was 15-year-old, five years ago. Smith also admitted giving the boy alcohol and Xanax, a prescription medication.

Smith worked for the school system for 14 years prior to her resignation.

As part of her plea Smith agreed to give up her teaching license and register as a sex offender.

Sentencing is set for August 1st.
