Cora Marie Solorio, 24, a bilingual teacher’s aide at Flamson Middle School in Paso Robles, California has been sentenced to 270 days in County Jail, five years probation and must register as a sex offender for life for the sexual abuse of a 13-year-old male student.

Solorio was sentenced in agreement with her no contest plea in June to one count of committing a lewd act on a child under age 14 and to two counts of having oral sex with a child under age 14. As part of the plea deal four counts of a lewd act with a child and and three counts of oral sex with a child were dropped.

Joe Quiroz, a Paso Robles Public Schools board member Solorio’s stepfather said after her sentencing that he wished his daughter didn’t have to spend time in jail at all but that the family was prepared for that possibility. Quiroz also said, “She’s a good kid. She’ll survive. She’s getting stronger and has made herself stronger because of all this. …I just want people to know that she’s not a pedophile. She’s not a sexual deviant.”

Deputy District Attorney Andy Cadena had sought a five year prison sentence and took issue with a county probation department report that he said portrayed Solorio, not the boy, as the victim.

Cora Marie Solorio, 24, a bilingual teacher’s aide at Flamson Middle School in Paso Robles, California has entered a non contest plea on one count of committing a lewd act on a child under age 14 and to two counts of having oral sex with a child under age 14.

In exchange for the no contest plea prosecutors dropped four counts of a lewd act with a child and and three counts of oral sex with a child.

Solorio was arrested in February after an anonymous person informed a high school counselor of the alleged molestation. The sexual relationship between the 13-year-old boy and Solorio allegedly developed after the boy’s mother asked that Solorio tutor him.

Solorio allegedly told police that she would engage in sex acts with the boy while the two of them were in her cubicle at the school as well as at her home.

Solorio has three children and her stepfather, Joe Quiroz, is a school board member.

Sentencing is set for July 18th and Solorio faces the possibility of up to 12 years in prison.
