Carrie McCandless
Friday, March 6th, 2009
Carrie McCandless, a former social studies teacher and cheerleading coach at Brighton Charter High School in Brighton, Colorado who pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 45 days in jail last year on a misdemeanor count of unlawful sexual contact with a minor is back in jail.

Last year, immediately following her guilty plea McCandless was taken straight from the court to serve her 45 days in jail.
This past Friday, McCandless reportedly turned herself in at the Larimer County Detention Center to serve 30 days, for what is uncertain at this time.
As part of McCandless sentence last year she also must serve 5 years of supervised probation, get treatment in an intensive sex offender program, register as a sex offender for 10 years and she will no longer be allowed to work as a teacher. Although it is uncertain at this point why she is back in jail the possibility exists that McCandless may have violated the conditions imposed upon her previously.
More details as they surface.
04/01/08 – Additional Information
The jailing of Carrie McCandless is the result of her admitting she violated her probation by drinking and having unauthorized sexual contact with another parolee.
A Weld County probation officer found McCandless, who is still married, in bed at the apartment of another parolee March 6.
The sentence McCandless received last year included five years of intensive supervision and a requirement for permission from parole officers before she sought sexual contact with others.
03/06/09 – McCandless Transferred To Regular Probation
A judge has ruled that Carrie McCandless has done well enough while on sex offender intensive supervised probation to be moved to regular probation.
The judge also approved a possible transfer to the Georgia probation department, helping clear the way for McCandless to move to Georgia if the state agrees to take her.
