Brandy Reynolds, 25, a former teacher at Omaha Baptist Academy in Fremont, Nebraska who last month entered a no contest plea to a charge of attempted first-degree sexual assault of a male student has been sentenced to prison.

Reynolds allegedly had a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old male student beginning in December 2004 and lasting through May 2006.

Reynolds was originally charged with with first-degree sexual assault but in a plea deal pleaded guilty to attempted first-degree sexual assault.

As part of the plea deal between Reynolds and the state prosecutors agreed to make no sentencing recommendation.

District Judge John Samson of Dodge County sentenced Reynolds to four to eight years in prison.

As part of the plea deal between Reynolds and prosecutors the charge was reduced, although still a felony, and prosecutors agreed to make no sentencing recommendation.

Reynolds was accused of having several sexual encounters with the boy between December 2004 and May 2006 and was facing up to 50 years in prison if convicted on the original charge.

Reynolds faces a sentencing range from 1 to 20 years and is scheduled for sentencing on September 24th.

Reynolds will be required to register as a sex offender.

Reynolds came to the attention of police when a complaint was filed April 28, after the boy’s family members contacted the state Health and Human Services System after reportedly learning of the sexual abuse from the church pastor.

Omaha Baptist Academy, which has about 30 students, is affiliated with Westwood Heights Baptist Church.

Brandy Reynolds, of Fremont, Nebraska sought by police on an arrest warrant alleging first-degree sexual assault of a then 15-year-old boy who was a student at Omaha Baptist Academy in Fremont, has surrendered to authorities.

Reynolds turned herself in today and paid 10 percent of a $50,000 bond to secure her release.

Reynolds who is accused of having several sexual encounters with the boy between December 2004 and May 2006 and is facing up to 50 years in prison if convicted.

Fremont detective Joyce Henke has said the boy, now 17, was a student at Omaha Baptist Academy, where Reynolds taught. She said the assaults occurred in Reynolds’ apartment in Fremont and one other location described only as non-residential.

A complaint was filed with police April 28, after the boy’s family members contacted the state Health and Human Services System. The boy, who was 15 when the alleged sexual relationship began, is from the Fremont area, Henke said.

Omaha Baptist Academy, which has about 30 students, is affiliated with Westwood Heights Baptist Church.

Update 07/03/07:

Brandy Reynolds pleaded not guilty Monday in Dodge County District Court to charges of first-degree sexual assault.

Reynolds remains free on $5,000 bond and her next court appearance is scheduled for July 23rd.

Update 8/01/07:

Brandy Reynolds will face a jury trial on August 21st in Dodge County District Court.

If convicted Reynolds faces up to 50 years in prison.

Reportedly the boy’s parents told police that they discovered the relationship from their pastor, Adam Love. It is alleged that Reynolds told Love that she had a relationship with the boy.
