(U.K.) Father-of-two Aaron Madden (30) of Welby Road, Asfordby Hill, a teacher was convicted of downloading a hoard of indecent photographs of children on a school computer. Madden appeared before Melton Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, November 27, after previously admitting the charges of viewing 48 pictures. Link
(Australia) A teacher at a Queensland Catholic primary school, who also acted as the school’s “child protection officer”, is facing dozens of charges over the alleged rape and sexual abuse of 13 young girls. Police are now trawling through the records of a number of institutions that the veteran teacher has worked in during a career spanning several decades, following the initial complaint last month of sexual abuse involving a 10-year-old girl at a Toowoomba primary school. (U.K.) Teacher Mark Little, aged 28, faces a “lengthy custodial sentence” after being found guilty of six counts of sexual activity with a girl aged under 16. The jury could not reach a verdict on six other charges at Knutsford Crown Court today. Link
(U.K.) Robert Page, 56, of Cosgrove, a music teacher from Northamptonshire has been given a community order after admitting downloading indecent photographs of children. Page, who has already signed the sex offenders’ register, pleaded guilty in September to 12 counts of possessing and making indecent images of children. Link
(U.S. – Colorado) This year in Colorado, six teachers have had their licenses revoked or denied for sexually assaulting a child. They include a sixth-grade teacher in Cañon City who gave students alcohol and marijuana, showed them pornography and engaged in sexual activity with male students, and a high school science teacher who had sex with a former student after she turned 18. (Canada) Former Surrey high school teacher Shawn Yu will not have his name removed from the national sex offender registry, a B.C. Supreme Court judge reaffirmed Monday. Yu was convicted in June 2006 of sexual interference – sexually touching someone under age 14 – following a complaint in 2004 from a female student who said the teacher touched and squeezed her breast several times during math class. The girl was 13 at the time of the incidents and therefore cannot be identified. Link
