Monday’s sentencing of Irene Gomez, 30, a Louisville, Colorado woman to 20 years of intensive supervised probation — but no prison time — for having sex with an underage boy once again raises the question of whether female and male sex offenders get equal treatment under the law. Link

Days after claiming it was not responsible for the safety of its pupils, Edison Schools Inc. has settled a lawsuit brought by the family of a boy raped in one of its Philadelphia schools. Link

Washington, D.C. detectives are investigating after what are being described photographs showing “inappropriate touching” of young boys are allegedly found on a camera in the possession of a teacher at the Beauvoir Elementary School on the National Cathedral campus in northwest Washington earlier this month. Former math teacher Jeffrey Epstein, who is now a reputed billionaire friend of Prince Andrew and Bill Clinton, has admitted soliciting prostitution from underage girls in South Florida. In a plea deal he got 18 months in the county jail. Link

Head teachers in Leicester, England are in talks to set up sexual health clinics to give out condoms and the morning-after pill in every secondary school in the city where 61 of every 1,000 females under 18-years-old turns up pregnant. Link

Virginia has passed a law to ensure that teachers who sexually abuse children aren’t allowed to return to the classroom to repeat their crimes. New law goes into effect on July 1. Link

Jonathan Williams, a school aide at Junior High School 126 in Brooklyn, New York was fired on Wednesday, after investigators found he’d sexually touched several students. School officials are in hot water over how they reacted when students went to them for help. Link

    and the second one-how can the school say,they are not responsible for the safety of the kids in school.i cant believe they said that-yet they did-hence the lawsuit. hit them where it hurts-the pocket.
