Herman Overcash

Herman Keith Overcash, 54, the principal of South Davidson High School in Denton, North Carolina has been arrested and charged with two counts of felony sexual activity with a student.
It is alleged that Overcash had sexual contact on two occasions with a 17-year-old female student.
Overcash is charged with two counts of felony sexual activity with a student by a school administrator.
Following his arrest Overcash appeared before a magistrate who set a $250,000 secured bond requirement. As of Friday morning Overcash was reportedly still being held in the Davidson County Jail.
Reportedly Overcash has been with the school system for 30 years.
06/12/08 – Guilty Plea and Sentence
Herman Overcash today pleaded guilty to three counts of felony sexual activity with a student.
Overcash in return for his guilty plea received a sentence combing prison time, suspended prison time and probation.
Overcash was sentenced to six months prison time – with credit for time served in jail since April, three consecutive prison terms of 13 months to 16 months – suspended entirely and five years on supervised probation.
In addition Overcash must enter a sex offender control program, register as a sex offender for at least 10 years and pay restitution for counseling sessions for the victim.

I can not for the life of me believe that he would do something like this. When he first came to south davidson he told us that our school was one of the worst schools in davidson county and looking back on it now we were one of the worst schools but he changed that. He told us we were going to shape up and turn the school around and that is what happened. When I graduated the schools test scores were up in the higher of county and I think that it was all because of Overcash’s attitude> He pushed every student to be the best that they could be live up to their potential, of course there were the few that only went to school kbecause they had to. I thought that he was a good role model but now I don’t know what to think. Now that this has come out other people have said questionable things about him and I did not think that he would be that type of person. But in the same breath he is not the only one that needs to be punished for his actions, the girl is in a position where she needs to be a role model. And I think that she does not deserve to be in that position. She was not forced to do what she did. She chose to do what she did and therefore she should not be in the position that she is in. I do not think it’s right. Yes I know he is a principal and he should have known have known better but as we can see he didn’t but he should not be the only one bearing this. It took two people to do what they did because she was a willing participant and should not be what she is today. That is all that I have to say.
I have been researching teachers, coaches and school employees in North Carolina who have been charged with sex offenses of students and children and I am up to over 400 names.
Where is Roy T. Cooper and the DSS Child Protective People when you need them? Roy T. Cooper is running unopposed so nothing will change in regard to real and actual protection of children.
Is Child Sex Offense a crime or a benefit in NC? Almost everyone gets to plead DOWN to Indecent Liberties and gets probation with no jail time.
North Carolina is not a safe place for children.
