Heather Kennedy, 25, a math teacher at Wataugh High School, Long Island, New York has been arrested for allegedly having sexual intercourse with a 16-year-old male student in Massapequa.
Kennedy has been charged with third degree rape and endangering the welfare of a child on allegations that on March 20 Kennedy had sexual intercourse with the student she was reportedly tutoring in math.
Kennedy who came to the attention of police by way of the boy’s father will be arraigned today in First District Court in Hempstead.

Kenedy was arraigned today First District Court in Hempstead and her bail was set at $35,000.

Reportedly the boy sent a text message to the teacher last week asking if she wanted to get together. The boy picked up Kennedy in his car and after spend some time together the teen asked Kennedy if she wanted to have sex. Allegedly she agreed and they did so in the boy’s car in the parking lot of Massapequ High School.
When the boy was grilled by his father as to why he came home so late, the teen admitted being with his teacher. The boy’s father called police the next day.
Kennedy’s bond was put up by her parents and she was released from jail after arraignment yesterday.
07/22/08 – Guilty Plea and More Charges
Last month Heather Kennedy pleaded guilty to sexual misconduct and is awaiting an August sentencing date at which time she could receive up to a year in jail.
While awaiting sentencing Kennedy was ordered to stay away from the victim.
Kennedy has now been arrested again on charges of third-degree rape, committing a criminal sexual act, criminal contempt and endangering the welfare of a minor on allegations that she resumed having sex with the boy while awaiting sentencing on her earlier charge.
According to Newsday.com:
Acting on a tip, Rice’s investigators put the Massapequa woman, 25, under surveillance and found that she was still seeing the boy, and the victim later told prosecutors she had sex with him five times since the guilty plea.
Kennedy was arraigned today on the new charges.
The judge ordered Kennedy held on $52,000 cash bail, or $104,000 bond.
In addition to the possibility of a one year jail sentence on her guilty plea, Kennedy now faces the possibility of years in prison if convicted of the new charges.
03/13/09 – Sentencing
Heather Kennedy has been sentenced to 6 months in jail and will lose her teacher’s license.
Reportedly Kennedy will be registered as a level three sex offender.
03/14/09 – Heather Kennedy Jailed Again
Heather Kennedy, sentenced to jail Friday, was re-arrested Saturday on charges she wrote letters to the victim from jail, violating a court order.
Following her sentencing to 6 months in jail, Kennedy was released owing to time already served.
Authorities said they became aware Friday night that Kennedy had written the letters and they arrested her at her home at 2 a.m. Saturday morning on charges she violated a restraining order.
Kennedy was arraigned shortly after noon Saturday on three counts of criminal contempt
It’s unclear when or how cops learned about the letters that she allegedly wrote to the teenager from the county lockup.

Wow she is listed as a sex offender?, charged with child indangerment? since when does having sex indanger someone. The boy was 16, and he picked her up in his car, she didn’t force him to do anything, he was in on it to. She probably shouldn’t have being his etacher, but making her a sex offender? i mean come on,there are tons of 16 year olds out there having sex with older women, should we make them all sex offenders?. Its time they go after the real sex offenders, the ones who ACTUALLY prey on children.
Two consenting people of any age should be able to have sex legally. Why is sex so forbidden in this country? Like prostitution… sex is the only legal activity that is illegal to charge money for. Why shouldn’t women be able to get paid for their God given talent and beauty? If it were legal it would not be associated with crime or std.
