Gregg D. Decker, a former substitute teacher in the Southern Regional School District in New Jersey has reportedly been indicted by an Ocean County grand jury on multiple sex charges in connection with allegations by a middle school student in 2005.
Decker has been free on $50,000 bail for more than three years since his arrest.
He came to the attention of authorities in 2005 when the alleged victim’s mother went to investigators and told them “her daughter and the teacher may have had a sexual relationship”. Allegedly the girl confirmed her mother’s suspicions to investigators.
Decker has been charged with first-degree aggravated sexual assault, second-degree sexual assault, second-degree official misconduct, third-degree endangering the welfare of a child and third-degree aggravated criminal sexual contact on allegations.
The alleged sexual contact between Decker and the then 14-year-old girl reportedly occurred between January 1 and February 28, 2005.
02/28/09 – Sentencing
Gregg Decker, who on December 1 in a plea deal with prosecutors pleaded to sexual assault, was sentenced to four years in prison Friday.
As part of the December plea deal, charges of official misconduct, aggravated sexual assault, aggravated criminal sexual contact and child endangerment were dismissed.
Decker is subjected to lifetime parole supervision under the terms of Megan’s Law.

What happened to the right to a speedy trial? My question is this: if 1) these megan’s laws were creates to “protect” the community, and NOT to enforce punitive measurements (as held by the US Supreme Court) and 2) Mr. Decker is now forced to register under said laws..then the logical conclusion is this: he is a threat to the community. HOWEVER, if the long arm of the law feels this way (and they must since the plea requires him to register) THEN WHY ON EARTH DID IT TAKE SO LONG TO PROSECUTE HIM?! Fact of the matter is these sex offender laws ARE UNCONSTITUTIONAL! They were created to assuage the fears of hysterical soccer moms who wants the government to do their job: PROTECT THEIR KIDS! As for these “poor kids who are marred for life”…MYTH! Research this professor: Pat Sikes..I read one idiot that claimed that she was “seduced” and “taken advantage of”..MY GOD! REALLY? She’s more successful than 90% of this world…happily married professional woman. Yep..I’d say her teacher (whom she married) ruined her life (I’m being sarcastic..I know I have to map things out for you people)…THIS WORLD IS REPLETE WITH SIMPLETONS!!
