    Rev. Richard Says:

“Ice”: In my position there is temptation. I head a ministry working with victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, childhood abuse, and abnormal personality disorders. Prior to ministry, I worked with young teens to adult as a district manager, overseeing newspaper carriers. The difference is, I know my professional responsibility and I’ve never crossed the boundary and violated ANY individual in either position. Even when considering a position as an instructor at a college, I knew professional responsibility prohibits teacher/student relationships as well.

If he couldn’t keep his hands off any student’s, he shouldn’t have been a teacher. No matter how you discuss student’s behaviors with other students, you can’t justify a teacher violating their responsibility to protect students, and not give into temptations that are evident being exposed to highly raging hormone individuals.

I understand he is or was married as well. So he not only violated a student, he violated his wife and completely disrespected his marriage. So, if he were tempted, and in the mood after being around all the hormonal teens, he could have taken it out on his wife, instead of going somewhere he should have never been. He, as an adult had the choice, and made the wrong one. The choice he made demands he answer for his behavior. Raising daughters myself, I’m glad another “bad teacher” is going to be put away so he won’t have access to doing the same to one of my children, or anyone else.

I know geoff extremely well…we went to college together, and have kept in close contact over the past twelve years. I agree with Rev. Richard, “It is not okay for a teacher to have sex with students. It is even more so disgusting to intimidate, coerce or threaten someone into such acts.” That being said…we all know what kids are doing in today’s society. If you don’t your extremely naive!! My wife taught in a Jr. High for a year and the stories that she came home with about who was doing who and what they did would make a porn star blush. I think that maybe we as society should look at the age of accountability and realize that 15yr olds make adult decision everyday, then when something like this happens…”oh my, they’re a victim…my baby wouldn’t do that” WAKE UP!!! Was a bad choice made by and adult? if it’s true, YES! but don’t sit here and make statements like “sack up and take a bullet” – Upset….that’s just wrong! Don’t judge a man until you’ve walked a mile in his shoes, which I’m sure NONE of you have, much less even tried that guys shoes on. And Rev. Richard…I pray that you don’t get put into a similar situation, being in the position that your name references. Saying that “I hope he gets the maximum” I’m just not sold that the 15yr old is always the victim in these situations. As men in authority positions you are held to a higher standard…and if you slip up then face your music like a man and pay your debt to society. At the same time there are may pitfalls in all of our jobs that we are ALL faced with daily. One of being a male teacher is the female students. If you propositions you and you’re in a bad place maybe you make a mistake too.

For the information of the class this is not being written by Geoff Dalton, just a good friend of his.

Also, I just want everybody to know that I was once just like some of you….”hang’em all” was my general position. After going through a situation with a cousin and watching how the prosecutors openly, using their words, made an example of him….based on the situation was WRONG, but the law allowed for them to do that. I am not of that mindset any more. People need to hear the whole story before passing judgment, and unfortunately in this case you will never hear the whole story. I don’t mean to minimize what could be true I just wanted to present a different side that most people don’t look at.

…oh and for those of you that “knew it all along”….I’m calling you out! That is a bunch of crap, you didn’t and don’t know anything. You’re so righteous now, but you didn’t know enough then to say anything to anybody, way to pile on now. What would people “know all along” about you if your name hit the headlines. Grow up!!!

PS – If you went to college with us then you know who I am, I’ll be in touch.

I know this is a late comment to the story, but this guy is as guilty as they get. I had him as my head football coach in 2001, as well as my assistant basketball (which he knew NOTHING about), and he drove the bus to baseball games. One day on the bus returning from a basketball game he overheard myself & a teammate discussing girls. I vividly remember him interrupting us & saying, “You guys have no idea guys!”…what he was meaning by that was that he was also doing some of the same things with these girls.

During the summer before my senior year he “stepped down” AKA was asked to leave because multiple girls confessed that he had made sexual advancements toward them throughout the school year.

I have also heard many other stories about this guy but he is not worth anymore of my time. I’m actually a bit mad at myself that I even spent this much time wrting about this creep.

I hope they throw the book @ him & as another person suggested, he gets violated in jail.

Upset says Dalton must have written some of these himself. I’d have to agree with that statement. The facts here are this: It is not okay for a teacher to have sex with students. It is even more so disgusting to intimidate, coerce or threaten someone into such acts.

Reading this story and many others, I have a question. I represent organizations who promote changes in the law to protect students and anyone who by malice are preyed upon. Some of these girls who are preyed upon by teachers, were “deflowered” by the pedophile. I believe, instead of the “lighter” charges placed, that if the additional physical pain some to through, and the mental pain most go through. these charges should be enhanced to “Aggravated Sexual Battery.” Also, since the freedom of the victim is compromised during the act, kidnapping to also be a possible charge. We need to keep people like this away from our children. I too hope he gets the maximum penalty.

This news didn’t surprise me at all. I went to college with Geoff, and he was creeptastic back then as well. He had a reputation for sleeping with anyone who was willing, even though he had a great fiance (who is now his wife). I also know that there have been either accusations or suspicions of this same thing at EVERY school he has taught/coached at. Somebody please tell me why this man was allowed to work at three different schools? When he is convicted, I hope he gets the maximum punishment allowable. Maybe then he will be preyed upon and abused in prison, which is no less than what he deserves.

Some of these statements seem very odd. I think dalton has wrote a lot himself. That is very sad, If I disrespected my family, kids and friends, like this I would sack up and eat a bullet.
    Suck it dalton
