Erin M. Speicher, 34, a former teacher at Rittman High School, in Rittman, Ohio was arraigned today on a sexual battery charge arising from allegations that she was engaging in inappropriate sexual conduct with students.
Police say that they believe there were multiple incidents with multiple victims and that all the alleged incidents took place at Speicher’s home in Orrville, Ohio.
School Superintendent Jon Ritchie has been quoted as indicating that the allegations came to light last week and that police were immediately called to investigate.
Reportedly the investigation continues involving Orrville Police, Rittman Police and Wayne County Children Services in conjunction with the Rittman School District.
Erin Speicher resigned her position with Rittman High School on Friday and was arrested on a single felony sexual battery count on Sunday.
Reportedly Speicher is being held in the Wayne County jail in lieu of $75,000 bond.
02/25/09 – Court Appearance
On Tuesday, Erin Speicher made an appearance in Wayne County Common Pleas Court and entered not guilty pleas to seven counts of sexual battery.
Judge Robert J. Brown continued Speicher’s $10,000 surety bond and ordered a pre-trial conference.
08/27/09 – Case Update and Sentencing
Erin Speicher, who in June entered guilty pleas to seven counts of sexual battery has been sentenced to four years in prison.
Speicher will be required to register as a sex-offender for the rest of her life.

I’m with the majority of people posting here, Erin only feels sorry because she got caught and is going to prison. Had her behavior not been discovered, it’s entirely likely she would’ve continued slamming teenage penis until she was no longer attractive to them.
And, public ridicule is exactly what she deserves, along with her prison sentence. The stigma her name carries should precede her. How dare you ask us to pray for her and her family. I’ll keep her family in mind, but as for her skank ass, yeah right! She didn’t have the decency to think what the ramifications of her actions were UNTIL they came to light. What a shallow individual this skank is.
Anonymous, what would have been a more appropriate punishment for Erin? I would think since you know her so well, and she is such a great person, you would have no problem divulging your name or any other name. Instead, you hide behind a generic nom de plume. How do you know Ms. Speicher?
The punishment Erin received was the punishment she earned. Anonymous, you claim Erin was hurting on the inside and reached out the wrong way for help. We’ve all been through tough patches in our lives; these tough patches don’t give you an excuse to break the law. This entire episode could have easily been avoided if Erin had the self-disciple to keep her trousers on. I hope people do make fun of Erin, this public ridicule is what Erin deserves, and if she doesn’t like it tough (Expletive deleted by site moderator)! Again, this entire situation could have been avoided by Erin.
Anonymous, you claim that Erin is a funny, thoughtful person. Yes, it’s really hilarious that Erin slept with one of her students. I bet Erin was laughing the whole time she was (Expletive deleted by site moderator) her student(s). She does look like she enjoys a good naked tickle fight. I couldn’t tell you if this was true; I’ll have to ask the kid(s) she F*cked. I bet her husband thought this was real funny too. Too bad that fuddy-duddy judge didn’t see the humor in all this. Erin is a thoughtful person? Erin didn’t seem to think that what she was doing was wrong, And she also didn’t seem to think she would be caught. Which brings me to my point, Erin only feels bad because she got caught with her knickers off, so to speak.
Finally, Anonymous, the thing that is most annoying about your post is when you ask everyone to pray for Erin. Ok, here is my prayer for Erin Speicher.
Dear God, I pray that Erin is forced to serve her entire sentence with no time off for good behavior. I pray that Erin’s husband realizes what trash Erin is and dumps her. I pray that other teachers who think about fornicating with one of their students will change their mind after seeing what happened to Erin. I pray that no one preys on Erin’s kids the way Erin did. I do feel bad for her kids and husband; they have to live with the fact that their mom is a PIG.
I know Erin Balsat as well. I graduated with her from Wooster High School. I also remember she used to be a socially conservative Christian anti-abortion activist. She was, and probably still is, a reasonably nice person. In fact I was shocked when I heard she of all people had been arrested. But SHE HAD SEX WITH HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS AND RUINED HER OWN FAMILY AND MARRIAGE!!!! Four years is actually the perfect sentence. It’s long enough to not be a slap on the wrist and not so long that her entire life isn’t ruined. She abused her sacred position as a teacher and she needs to be punished for that. She also needs to be held up as an example to other teachers who might feel inclined to initiate a sexual relationship with students of whom they have been entrusted to teach. To say that she “is not a criminal” is completely wrong. She is a sexual predator with deep psychological issues and maturity issues. She obviously lacks any kind of professional morality and personal restraint. under NO CIRCUMSTANCES can her actions be justified. “Hurting on the inside” and “reaching out the wrong way for help” are very, very weak excuses for her behavior. I know Erin and I know she knew better.
Hokay, anonymous says, details, please. Erin has sex with SEVERAL BOYS at her house and in her husband’s bed. What did she think was going to happen?? And now she’s sorry-because she got caught??? Why hasn’t her husband divorced her??? 10 years would have been a better sentence for Erin.
Wow! You think a four year sentence for molesting a kid is too harsh? This sentence is fine and fair. This will hopefully deter other teachers from having a sexual relationship with their students. What do you think would be a more fair punishment? Erin made a mistake, she slept with somebody she had authority over, and know she’s paying for it. She is a dirty girl and she put her lust over her family. I guess she really didn’t love her family.
You have no idea who this woman was and is still. Yes, she committed and awful crime, but you do not know her. I know her better than anyone and I am standing up for her. She was in the wrong, she knew it. But I need her voice to be heard in this. She is heart broken that it has come to this. Before she went for her hearing she could not even talk about the impact it has had on her family and kids. She did something that is against the law, and yes, deserves punishment, but 4 years? Come on. That is harsh. I know she is remorseful for what happened and I believe she will oversome this terrible thing. This is not a “criminal”. She is not “trash”. She is a funny, thoughtful person who truly was hurting on the inside and reached out the wrong way for help. Please, those of you who pray, pray for her and her kids and her husband. They are all in so much pain right now. This is real life. This is not some media joke or fun scandal to talk about. I know the boys involved are also hurting and I pray they seek the counseling that they are going to need.
