Eric P. Darwitz, 31, girls’ hockey coach at Shattuck-St. Mary’s School in Faribault, Minnesota has been charged with criminal sexual conduct for allegedly having sex with two former players shortly after he resigned at another school.
Reportedly, Darwitz has been charged with two counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct.
It is alleged that late on August 11 or early on August 12, 2006 that Darwitz drove two then 16-year-old girls, who had been on his Park High School hockey team, to a home he shared with another man, where he had sex with both of the girls.
Allegedly, the girls told police that Darwitz poured them alcoholic beverages when they arrived at the home and that Darwitz subsequently took one of the girls upstairs, undressed her and had sex with her. The girl said she later looked in the bathroom and saw Darwitz having sex with the second girl.
It is further alleged that Darwitz admitted to having sex with one of the girls when questioned by police, but said he did not recall having intercourse with the other girl, although he did admit to being in the bathroom with her.
According to the criminal complaint, Darwitz described his relationship with both alleged victims to police as “a father figure and big brother”.
Reportedly, Darwitz came to the attention of police in February when the boyfriend of one of the alleged victims came forward with information.
Darwitz has reportedly been placed on paid leave by Shattuck-St. Mary’s.

Shattuck would not have hired Mr. Darwitz if they had been aware of any accusations, as this alleged incident happened before he started working for Shattuck. A background check had been conducted prior to his hiring. And, as soon as Shattuck became aware of the incident, Mr. Darwitz was put on administrative leave.
No one knows exactly why he “confessed” to one incident and is considered innocent until proven guilty.
