Emily Kate Janes, 23, an 11th-grade English teacher at Deer Park High School in Deer Park, Texas has been charged with having an improper relationship with a 12th-grade male student.
Janes, who is alleged to have had sex with a “teenage student”, resigned from the school on Monday after being charged and is free on $30,000 bond.
Her next court appearance is set for March 13th.
06/25/08 - Guilty Plea
Emily Janes has pleaded guilty to an improper relationship between teacher and student.
She will be sentenced later this summer.
08/28/08 - Sentencing
Emily Janes has been sentenced to four years deferred adjudication, which amounts to probation with the possibility of having her record cleared if she abides by the requirements of her probation.

A pedophile sleeps with underage minors, the guy was 18. It’s against the law because she was a teacher. If she had been some college student, remember she is only 23, and this had happened this wouldn’t be a crime. I’m not saying that what she did was right, but you don’t need to be an ___hole, and wish her more harm. She should be punished, but 10 years, really? I feel for the husband, but we don’t know what was going on in the marriage, or anything about that side.

So has Mrs. Janes husband dumped her ?? Could you imagine what it has been like for him having an adulterous pedophile for a wife? It would be really great if she gets about 10 years in the slammer.

that student could be 17 in December, 2007.
if she is not punished, what could happen in the school?
teachers and students are all having sex in school whenever they want. whoohoo.

I think she should have her teaching license revoked, and maybe probation, but this is going to ruin her life. And I don’t mean just the reputation part. She won’t get a job with a felony on her record. Also I heard she was also sleeping with a teacher at the school too.

The law is new (Sept 07 it was revised) and it SHOULD BE ANY student no matter age just like the law states. It is absolutely inappropriate no matter age to have a relationship with a student (former or current while still attending the school) not to mention if the teacher is married. The age of consent is 17 and it is only different if it is a student teacher dynamic, as it should be… well maybe expect the 17 part, 18 would probably be better. Texas does not over react if you do something wrong you should be punished. But on another note has she even had a trial? Innocent until proven guilty, or so I thought.

I also believe that the consensual age for males with females should be lowered to 16 and not 18.
