Edward Riley Slate III, 41, a special education teacher at Wilcox High School in Santa Clara, California has reportedly been arrested on allegations of a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old female student.

Slate was arrested on campus Monday on suspicion of multiple counts of sexual relations with a minor.
Reportedly, investigators learned of the relationship in May and began an investigation. As a result of that investigation, police allege that Slate and the girl had a sexual relationship between January and June of this year.
Investigators are looking for other potential victims, and anyone with information about the case is asked to call Detective Kirk Kim at (408) 730-7120.
08/26/09 – Arraignment
Reportedly, Edward Slate was arraigned this afternoon on two felony counts of oral copulation with a minor, two felony counts of sexual penetration of a person under 18 and two felony counts of sodomy with a person under 18.
Bail for Slate was set in the amount of $60,000 and he is scheduled to enter a plea on September 18th.
If convicted, Slate faces a maximum sentence of six years and four months.
10/22/09 – Parents Say School Was Warned
Police are now investigating complaints from parents who say they warned officials at Santa Clara’s Wilcox High School of inappropriate behavior by teacher Edward Slate before he was charged with having sex with a 17-year-old female student.
