Donna Goebel, 43, of Westampton, New Jersey, a teacher’s aide at a school for children with special needs in Burlington County has been arrested on a charge alleging she sexually assaulted a student.
A report by nbc10.com indicates that Goebel’s husband tipped police to the alleged sexual activity between Goebel and the student. A press release from the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office indicates that authorities were contacted by an “adult male”.
Officials are not releasing information about the victim’s gender, age, location of the assaults, home town or the name of the school.
Goebel is being held on $75,000 bail and will make a court appearance later today.
02/08/08 - Court Appearance
Donna Goebel made an initial court appearance today and was held over in lieu of $75,000 bail.
Matthew Goebel, a federal detention officer in Philadelphia and husband of the accused, went public today saying that if it was up to he he would never let his wife out of jail.
He also said that he discovered pictures of the alleged victim on his wife’s cell phone and that the pictures were taken in his bedroom and shower.
Matthew Goebel also went on to say that his wife recently spent a night with the special-needs student in Atlantic City and that she also kept the special-needs child in their house for three nights and four days.
Reportedly the Goebel’s have two daughters ages 16 and 18 and according to Matthew Goebel, his wife’s actions have left the family “torn apart”.
06/12/08 - Grand Jury Indictment
A Burlington County grand jury has indicted Donna Goebel on one count of sexual assault in the second degree in the alleged sexual assault of a 16-year-old boy.
Goebel remains free on $75,000 bond.

A good starting place in an effort to contact Mr. Goebel might be the police department which handled the case. Judging from news media reports he is going to be a witness for the prosecution, therefore the police and prosecutors will be in contact with him.
