Dermott P. Morgan, 43, a gym teacher at Petrova Elementary School, in Saranac Lake, New York has reportedly been charged with sexually abusing an 11-year-old girl.
Morgan is reportedly charged with second-degree sex abuse and endangering the welfare of a child.
At arraignment, Morgan pleaded not guilty and was released on his own recognizance.
Morgan’s attorney says that the Morgan has requested a leave of absence from the school.
His attorney points out that the allegations against Morgan are not connected in any way to Morgan’s employment at the school or to any of his coaching activities in the community.
Morgan’s next court date is set for April 6th.

idk who stacy is but she obviously doenst live in the area and has no right commenting on this. dermott was my gym teacher for years and is one of the nicest people i could have ever known. every time i see him hes the same happy and caring person. it really makes me furious that someone would say he did this its just completely wrong. he sure as hell isnt a creep, and from what ive been told the girl is a liar and tells her mother that people do stuff like blow smoke and her face, and now this.
Stacy, how could you say this sounds like a felony when you don’t even know the facts. Dermott hasn’t shared his side of the story and is innocent until proven guilty. No accusation is fact until the facts of both sides of the story are presented. He will have his day and from what I know, will be vindicated!
I have known Dermott Morgan for around 40 years of my 47 year lifen he would NEVER NEVER EVER do this to ANYONE much less a chilnd. What do u mean it doesnt matter who he knows ? Do you think it matters? You dont think he is stuffing? Do you think just because he knows people that changes how people are looking at him? He has a family and a sick wife, young children, maybe because he is the son of a very well respected family someone thinks tney have sometiing to gain……shame on them! Never assume anything innocent untill proven guilty. Dermott does not deserve this , I shake my head in diguest what hell is wrong with people…..I am so DAMN glad I know longer live in Saranac Lake nothing more then a Paten PLace! this sounds like a felony to me. Why wasn’t this man stopped from teaching in Oct. when this happened?? It should not matter who he knows! God help that innocent 11 year old girl & the other students. She is in the same school as this creep Morgan. Justice must be served!
