Dennis C. May Jr., 35, the music/choir teacher at Hudson Middle School and East Woods Elementary School in Hudson, Ohio has been arrested on allegations that he showed an adult pornographic video to a 7th-grade boy.

Reportedly May is charged with disseminating matter harmful to a juvenile and public indecency.
On February 9th the boy, who is one of May’s students, told a school counselor that May showed him a “sexual video” on November 21st.
A search of the school by school officials and police on Monday did not find a pornographic video.
Reportedly police obtained a search warrant for May’s home, however what if anything was found has not been revealed.
May, who has worked in the school system for 13 years, has been placed on administrative leave with pay.
May was arraigned in Stow Municipal Court yesterday and was released on a $5,000 bond and is set to return to court on February 24th.

02/17/09 – A School and Community Divided
Hudson Middle School students have reportedly organized a “We Miss You, Mr. May Day” memorial today for Dennis C. May Jr.
Reportedly the case against May and his subsequent apparent suicide have divided both the school and the community and apparently the student that reported the allegations against May has been experiencing “bullying” on the part of some.
The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that May had provided a written confession to police and that in a call to 9-1-1 told the police dispatcher that he had a gun.
May was recorded in the 9-1-1 call as telling the dispatcher, “It’s (the gun) in my hand right now.”
May ended that call with, “Thank you, goodbye.”
And apparently pulled the trigger.

To all who are saying he couldn’t have done this because he was a “nice guy”, stop it. That has nothing to do with whether or not he could have done this. I was a student of his also, and he definitely was a nice guy, but that does not make him innocent. I was as shocked as many of you were when I first heard about this, but just because something may seem unlikely doesn’t mean it couldn’t happen.A lot of people thought John W. Gassey was a nice guy and helpful neighbor, and he raped and murdered 30 young men. As students, we only knew a very small part of the man that was Mr. May, and no one except him and that boy can be sure if what he was accused of actually happened.
Mr. May signed a police statement saying that he had done to some extent what he was being accused of. People in his situation don’t just arbitrarily say “yeah, I did it” unless they really did, usually.
Having said all that, it is very sad to see someone take his own life. I’m sure he was feeling absolutely terrible about the situation he was in and felt he could not overcome, which is very sad. No one ever wants to feel as hopeless as he must have, regardless of guilt or innocence.
I hate that they call him a bad teacher I knew him because i am a student there and I think this crap is really mean to post when he’s not here to defend himself I bet the kid even lied to get Mr. May fired
Mr. May. He was definitley on my “The Top Five Favorite Teachers” list. Shame on you for calling him a bad teacher. Ur a bad bad blogger!
He was a great guy
One again we see “trial by media.” No lawyer, no jury, no evidence, no conviction – just dragging someone’s reputation through the mud. Bad, bad (and lame) website! Get real jobs you vultures and leave this grieving family alone. Take this crap down!
