(10/13/09 – Initial BadBadTeacher.com Report)

Deanna Higgins, 27, a science teacher at Spring Independent High School in Spring, Texas has reportedly been charged on allegations of a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old male student.

Reportedly, Higgins has been charged with improper relationship between an educator and a student and sexual assault of a child, both of which are second-degree felonies.

The DA’s office indicated that an arrest warrant for Higgins has been issued and she is expected to turn herself in to authorities within a few days.

Higgins came to the attention of school administrators and the Spring Independent School District Police Department when a third party brought allegations of an improper relationship between Higgins and a student to school officials in January, 2009. Higgins who has been employed at Spring High School since January, 2008 was reportedly placed on paid administrative leave.

School administrators have indicated that a second teacher has been placed on paid administrative leave while a separate investigation is conducted. No other details of this investigation have been released.

The school has made available a letter to parents which provides background information on this case.

10/14/09 – Case Update

Higgins came to the attention of authorities when her ex-husband allegedly found text messages from the student on Higgins’ cell phone, which Higgins had reportedly to her son before a weekend visitation with his father.

It is alleged that the alleged victim has told investigators that he had sex with Higgins at her home and inside his pickup truck, which at the time was parked outside Higgins’ home while her three children slept inside.

It is further alleged that Higgins left a pair of panties in the boy’s truck and that he has turned them over to investigators.

Defense attorney Troy McKinney has been quoted as saying, “Our position at this point is we regret that Spring ISD decided to jump the gun on this and file the charges without conducting a complete investigation. They have not done so.”

McKinney went on to say that he believes that ultimately, Higgins will be exonerated.

Where you got the information that he recorded videos?

  2. Lesy says:

Yeah it was wrong for her, but the boy knew as well that it was wrong. It was his fault, he could have made the choice of not having a relationship with the teacher, it takes 2 to tango. He had videos and showed them off to his friends, then he cries saying that he didn’t want to? sounds to me like someones too scared to admit something!

  3. Sadly says:

    I hope she is exonerated!

  4. Max says:

You are right Kay, wait till the courts decide her fate

I personally know Deanna Higgins. Let me tell you absolutely hands down this is totally 100% out of character for Deanna……………my prayers and my support will support her to get through this…..no matter what. And lets also remember, that you are innocent until proven guilty in America. This is a girl that paid her own way through college to get her degree, while having 3 children and was married to a dead beat that she supported through some serious criminal charges of his own from what I’ve heard, then cheated on her several times. She is a good person, and again this is totally out of character for her.

I just want to say to Kay that I too know Deanna personally… she was my best friend for many years and you are absolutely right, this is totally out of character for her, but let me just tell you that her husband was not a dead beat by any means and has worked at the same job for years busting his ass while married to Deanna and helping her go through school and he should have never been convicted for the criminal charges he had, but was represented by a sorry ass attorney that only wanted his money and could care less to prove him innocent. So, please… if you don’t know somebody, please don’t state untrue facts about them to make yourself look better. They are both wonderful parents and the sad thing about their marriage is that they just didn’t know how to be there for one another and about the cheating… well, they both hurt each other in the relationship. Neither one were innocent by any means and the only thing that matters now is the children and their well being. I know in my heart she is innocent and I will continue to pray that she is found not guilty so that all of us that can move forward with our lives.

Hmmm…. Bryan Higgins is NOT a good parent. I understand your need to defend your brother, but his decisions here have proven otherwise. I too pray that Deanna is exonerated, as she should be. I don’t know all of the information (only 2 ppl do) but the investigation was started because Bryan and his wife turned over a cell phone with “incriminating evidence” for one reason and one reason only, to harm Deanna. When she finally found the courage to leave him (after numerous affairs at the job you are so proud of hm for having) he wanted to hurt her. He didn’t think his actions through, a sign of a true narcissist. He lived with you until he found someone else to use, and he is already back to his cheating ways (and nothing says “I love you” like a quickie JP wedding to try to win custody… which didn’t work). His behavior is and always was about him, and the mistakes he has made in life are his to bear. I don’t know what your religious beliefs are April, but I am a Christian and I believe in the grace of God. If he cares anything about his three children (and so far his narcissism has shown he does not) he will seek forgiveness and start to behave like a man. He has no reason to hate Deanna, she gave him more chances than she should have, then almost anyone would have. He needs to learn to accept his mistakes and move on, he needs to let go of his anger. We have all made mistakes in our lifes, it’s how we react to them that determine the type of person we are. My prayers and with Deanna and her kids, and may they find peace and a resolution to this nightmare your brother started soon.
