Dayna Crenshaw, 33, girls’ basketball coach at Nacogdoches High School in Nacogdoches, Texas has been arrested and charged with having an improper relationship with a female student.
It is alleged that Crenshaw had a four month sexual relationship with an 18-year-old female student between December 2007 and March 31, 2008.
The alleged victim told police that she and Crenshaw engaged in sex acts at the home of Crenshaw’s mother, a residence close to the high school. The girl allegedly provided police with a detailed map of the inside of Crenshaw’s mother’s residence and described tattoos on Crenshaw’s body which she allegedly observed during encounters with Crenshaw.
The alleged victim reportedly graduated from the school last week.
Following her arrest Crenshaw was arraigned and subsequently released on $15,000 bond. Her case is expected to be presented to a grand jury.
Reportedly Crenshaw has been placed on administrative leave by the school system.
08/10/08 – Guilty Plea and Sentencing
Dayna Crenshaw has waived her right to indictment and entered a guilty plea to improper relationship with a student and received a sentence of five years deferred adjudication, which is basically probation.
Crenshaw must permanently surrender her teaching certificate, pay $5,000 in restitution to the school system, pay a $2,000 fine and submit her resignation to the school system.

this was actually my teacher and to tell the truth yes she probably really did this but i dont think in this situation everything came out fair the girl was 18 so i mean it wasnt like she was underaged the only thing i see wrong with the situation is that yess she was her student and if they had waited till she had graduated it would have been ok, and btw firing her was totally wrong ms. crenshaw was a very good health teacher.

This was really stupid the girl was 18 it’s not like the coach actually broke a law there and sice the coach got punished the other party should have too.It’s not far that the coach lost her teaching license and the second party didnt have any punishment what so ever her name can’t even be said this is all just a stupid situation.Apperantly this girl needs to grow up a little more and me more mature about the situatuion istead of letting the coach take all the blame

I decided to do a little research on this one. It appears that the justice system may have overstepped its bounds on this one. I do not believe it was the intention of the law to interfere with what goes on between two consenting adults (the young lady was 18 years old). It is amazing to me that the same 18 year old can join the Military learn to drive a tank or shoot a firearm, take the life of someone but cannot be considered responsible for the actions she desires to undertake on her own behind closed doors with whoom ever she chooses. Lets face it, the moral majority got this one wrong. I would also tend to wonder what Civil Rights Boundaries were trampled on here for two traumatized consenting adults? Where is the ACLU on this one??

I could understand if the kid is 13 or 14 but 18 come on that is definalty the age of concent.
