Karen, I did not excuse David from any wrong doing. My comment was related to the fact that Western’s name is being drug through the mud because of this. I don’t excuse him in anyway; I don’t think that he should be working with students. I just think that it is unfortunate that Western’s name is the one being thrown around. In fact, my friends have emailed me asking about “that guy from Western” not about David Seus. I am sorry if I offended you, but I don’t see where my comment was in the wrong at all.

Victimless or not, it could have been anyone’s child. This cannot be the first time this happened. Sadly, much is being made against the school and not the person. Western is getting a rap for something out of their control. I hope that David gets help!

Susan and Lindsay, are you kidding me??? Obviously the only reason a 13 year old girl was not the victim of this man is because the FBI did their job. He does not deserve to be teaching at Western or any other school!

I agree with Lindsay. Plus, look how low his bond ended up — only $5000. No judge in this day and age is going to set a low bail in a case like this unless there are significant mitigating circumstances. To me this is very much like a case of dui—no one got hurt or killed, thank goodness. David made a very poor choice, to be sure, but the reality is that this is a victimless crime. In addition, there is no indication that David had a track record of this type of behavior–in contrast with at least one of the other three teachers arrested.

I think it should be pointed out that despite the obvious crime, David did not solicit a student. This is not an example of teacher-student relationships that were inappropriate. This is a man who responded in an internet chat room. I feel it’s only fair to the school whose be is being thrown around that he did NOT solicit a western high student.
