David Pottenger, 46, a former teacher’s aide at Smith Middle School in Vandalia, Ohio who pleaded guilty in June to having child pornography on a personal computer has been sentenced.
Pottenger was sentenced to two years of community control, was given 120 days to pay court costs and was ordered not to use the Internet unless access is needed for employment.
If Pottenger fails to abide by the terms of community control, he faces 17 months in prison.
In June, Pottenger waived a county grand jury’s consideration of allegations against him, pleaded no contest to two counts of pandering obscenity involving minors and was found guilty.
Pottenger came to the attention of authorities after he sold the computer to a man who put it in a garage sale from which it was purchased by a Tipp City woman who found the child pornography and notified authorities.
At sentencing, Pottenger apologized to family and friends for embarrassing them.

This is an easy one to comment on. This guy is not only a pervert, but a MORON as well. You NEVER let ANYONE touch or even look at your personal computer no matter what. I know a staunch Christian teacher woman who let her daughter’s boyfriend use her computer for a few days. She know absolutely NOTHING about computers and had absolutely no idea of what was about to happen.
When she got her computer back, every time she turned it on a picture of two male homosexuals going at it would appear. I fixed the problem for her by reformatting the drive.
I must have heard Leo Leporte, Kim Kommando, and other computer gurus tell their listeners to ERASE everything on the drive and the REFORMAT the drive BEFORE turning your computer over to anybody.
These sleezeballs get very careless and ALWAYS get caught. It’s only a matter of time. To be turned on by pictures of naked children is a very sick disease. I just don’t understand.
