David Howard Hodges, 62, who prior to retirement taught technology at Switzerland Point Middle School, in St. Johns, Florida has reportedly been arrested in Pennsylvania on allegations that he raped a 10-year-old girl there last summer.
Reportedly, Hodges is charged with first-degree felony counts of unlawful contact with a minor, rape of a child, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child and aggravated indecent assault.
Hodges is also reportedly charged with third-degree felony counts of indecent assault and endangering a child’s welfare and a first-degree misdemeanor count of corruption of a minor.
Hodges turned himself in to authorities in Scranton, Pennsylvania after a yearlong investigation into the allegations.
Allegedly the crimes were committed in Pennsylvania last summer while Hodges was visiting family members.
Reportedly, Hodges told police that the girl was having trouble sleeping so he gave her a fourth of an anti-anxiety pill and they both got into the same bed.
The criminal complaint indicates that Hodges thought she was sleeping when he pulled down her pajama bottoms, inappropriately touched her, had intercourse with her and performed oral sex on her.
Reportedly, the girl told her parents what allegedly happened, and they took her to a hospital in Scranton to be examined. The girl was interviewed and her clothing was seized as evidence.
Reportedly, DNA testing was conducted on saliva found on the girl’s underwear, but the sample was not conclusive.
Following his arrest, Hodges was freed on $50,000 bond.
Hodges, through his attorney, has denied all charges.

It’s hard to believe that a man said to have been this “creepy” or “weird” would go unnoticed for so many years. I don’t understand the details of this case. How did Hodges get access to this child without being noticed? Why did the child allow him to molest her and then, later on, blow the whistle on him? Also, why didn’t “Former student” nor any of her classmates squeal on him for rubbing their legs?
What a way to live out the golden years of one’s retirement! I’ve got to stop reading these cases for awhile. I’m already beginning to suspect that the Pope himself couldn’t be trusted.

I always knew he was a creeper. He was my teacher a couple years ago. He used to love when girls wore skirts and he rubbed my leg, along with a couple other girls’ legs when he sat down next to them.
I always use to think he was a freak when he was my teacher the school year before the summer this happened but I didn’t think he’s was that much of a freak
