(04/28/08 – Initial BBT Report)

Daniel Kerekes

Daniel W. Kerekes, 37, a physical education and health teacher at South Brunswick High School in South Brunswick, New Jersey has been arrested and charged on allegations of a sexual relationship with a female student.

It is alleged that Kerekes has been sexually involved with the girl since sometime last fall.

Kerekes has been charged with one count of sexual assault and his bond was set at $200,000.

In addition to working at South Brunswick High School, reportedly Kerekes also works as the lacrosse coach for the boys’ team at West Windsor-Plainsboro High School South.

07/30/08 – Guilty Plea

Daniel W. Kerekes has pleaded guilty to endangering the welfare of a child after admitting that he had sex with a 16-year-old female student.

Kerekes faces up to three years in prison at his sentencing on October 17th.

The offense to which Kerekes pleaded guilty does NOT require that he register under Megan’s Law as a sexual offender.

10/17/08 – Sentencing

Daniel Kerekes was sentenced this morning to a three-years in prison.

Kerekes may be permitted to apply for admission to an intensive supervisory program that would release him on parole after serving three to nine months in custody.

As part of the plea deal, Kerekes will be prohibited from ever holding a “public job”, i.e. teacher, coach or other job requiring contact with minors.

The victim did not appear in court at Kerekes’ sentencing did however write a letter to the judge asking that Kerekes not be sentenced to prison. Reportedly the victim’s mother also wrote a letter stating that her daughter was not harmed by the relationship. The mother subsequently contacted the prosecutor and said she had second thoughts about the matter.

Although Kerekes admitted having a sexual relationship with the victim, under terms of the plea agreement he will NOT be required to register as a sex offender.

    I happened to come across this thread and I find it hilarious that the adults here all question the students grammar, for one, you’re one to judge, we learn off YOUR generation so clearly YOU must not be teaching the kids right. The fact is, you shouldn’t be so offended by grammar and spelling, I’m sure a lot of the kids here are smart and just prefer using chat speak, it’s a simpler way of typing. Oh, and by the way, not all teenagers have “horrific spelling and grammar”, how do I know this? Because I’m a teenager, and I’m using perfectly fine grammar and spelling, like I always do.
