Posted by: Webmaster in Coaches, Hall of Shame, High Schools, Teachers - Misc, VirginiaDaniel Farmer, 36, of Floyd, Virginia, a former media specialist at Floyd Elementary School and an assistant girl’s softball coach at Floyd County High School has pleaded guilty to misdemeanor sexual battery of a 15-year-old girl.

Farmer was arrested in September 2006, and has been on $5,000 bond since that time. He resigned from both school positions following his arrest.
Farmer was originally charged with oral sodomy and contributing to the delinquency of a minor for the sexual abuse of the girl who was reportedly a member of the girls softball team. In exchange for Farmer’s plea to misdemeanor sexual battery, prosecutors dropped the sodomy and contributing charges.
Farmer won’t serve any jail time.
He received a suspended one-year jail sentence, two years probation, he must complete 400 hours of community service while on probation and will be required to register as a sex offender.

We have vague laws on the books which gives these activist judges power to sentance people! We need to pass laws that contain specific punishment that these judges can’t circumvent!

The 17 year old student didn’t have the financial and legal resources or the political savvy of this teacher, that’s what.
Old age and treachery beats youth and idealism.

I just don’t understand our legal system. I know every state is different; however, in Georgia we have a 17 year old student serving a 10 year prison sentence for consensual oral sex with a 15 year old girl. What the heck is going on in the country?
