(07/25/08 - Initial BBT Report)
Craig Dinwiddie, 52, a Spanish teacher at Gonzales High School in Gonzales, California has been arrested and charged with seven counts of possession of child pornography, two counts of distributing child pornography, two counts of annoying children and one count of possession of marijuana.
Dinwiddie came to the attention of local authorities in late May when they received a tip from San Jose police that two people had received child pornography sent by a computer user of AOL in Gonzales. Police then issued a warrant that ordered AOL to release information on the account which was ultimately traced to Dinwiddie in early June.
Subsequently Dinwiddie’s residence was searched and police seized his computer and electronic files and an examination of of the computer equipment allegedly revealed the child pornography on the computer.
Dinwiddie who has reportedly taught at the school for over 15 years was placed on administrative leave.
Reportedly none of the child pornography allegedly found on Dinwiddie’s computer contained images of local children. However it is being reported that police found some images of local child and that the photos appear to have been taken without their knowledge and while the children in the photos were fully clothed, police say the images “focused on various parts of the body”.
11/14/08 - Preliminary Hearing Waived
On October 28th Craig Dinwiddie waived his right to a preliminary hearing and will head straight toward trial on felony and misdemeanor child pornography charges.
Arraignment is set for November 20th.

Din was one of the nicest teachers I had at Gonzales High School
Of what I heard from a cop at Gonzales, the counts are just ridiculous.
In California, these counts ar considered a huge crime.
Anywhere else, like in Europe where I live, these things aren’t even being considered.
In my opinion, like Hannah said, people should start realize how retarded law enforcement is being done.

i like dis teacher better than da (Deleted by site moderator) teacher we have 4 spanish now he was cool and kinda laid back unlike da spanish teacher we got now shes hella strict i member idis time i came 2 his class all stoned and smellin like weed and he didnt do nothin cuz hes cool like dat

he was my teacher, and even though he was kind of different, he hug students, ect. he was a really niece teacher and i can’t believe this. its hard. and for victim 212323 its not a joke..

Wow. How come they go after this guy and not all the folks taking and
posting the porn sites or selling the drugs. What a typical Salem style
witch trial. Lets keep the small fish cause they are easier to catch. Get
real. A detective gets busted for drunk driving or drugs? Does he get the same
media crap? No way! its kept off the public record. Someone goes on to a web site and suddenly they are guilty. What a sad state we have become. The Salinas
Valley stinks of gangs, drugs,etc. Yet detectives and the media have time to
hang a teacher for looking at pics. which may not have been intentional? It
seems almost like a frameup. Could it be? Do you believe everything you read?
Lets see what the media does if the charges are dropped. Won’t read about that…not newsworthy.
