Cora Marie Solorio Sentenced
Posted by: Webmaster in California, FE-MV, Middle Schools, Teacher's AidesCora Marie Solorio, 24, a bilingual teacher’s aide at Flamson Middle School in Paso Robles, California has been sentenced to 270 days in County Jail, five years probation and must register as a sex offender for life for the sexual abuse of a 13-year-old male student.
Solorio was sentenced in agreement with her no contest plea in June to one count of committing a lewd act on a child under age 14 and to two counts of having oral sex with a child under age 14. As part of the plea deal four counts of a lewd act with a child and and three counts of oral sex with a child were dropped.
Joe Quiroz, a Paso Robles Public Schools board member Solorio’s stepfather said after her sentencing that he wished his daughter didn’t have to spend time in jail at all but that the family was prepared for that possibility. Quiroz also said, “She’s a good kid. She’ll survive. She’s getting stronger and has made herself stronger because of all this. …I just want people to know that she’s not a pedophile. She’s not a sexual deviant.”
Deputy District Attorney Andy Cadena had sought a five year prison sentence and took issue with a county probation department report that he said portrayed Solorio, not the boy, as the victim.
