Claude Brown, 42, a former football coach at Buchtel High School, in Akron, Ohio who was sentenced to two years in prison for the sexual battery of a 17-year-old female student has received an early release from prison.
Common Pleas Judge Marvin A. Shapiro granted Brown “shock probation” after Brown had served eight months of his two year sentence.
Brown pleaded guilty in April to two counts of sexual battery and could have received up to ten years in prison. Prosecutors alleged that Brown had consensual sex with the girl three times between December 2006 and February 2007.
Brown was placed on probation for four years, ordered not to have any contact with teenagers, not to have contact with the victim and her family and was placed in the Tier 3 classification for sex offenders. As such Brown must register his address with authorities every 90 days for the rest of his life.
