Detectives became aware of the relationship when a friend of the victim told her mother and the mother contacted state police.

According to a police spokesman Lehto and the student engaged in sexual activity while parked in the parking lot of the Camden Wal-Mart.

Police also say that the victim confirmed that the two had sex on the Wal-Mart parking lot having previously had lunch together.

12/03/08 - Supreme Court Upholds Dismissal

The Delaware Supreme Court has upheld the dismissal of Christopher J. Lehto who lost his job because of a sexual relationship with a former student.

Lehto maintained that it was wrong to terminate him for immorality because the rape charge was dismissed and all of his teaching evaluations had been positive. Lehto based his contention on the fact that the rape charge was dismissed because the Department of Justice determined that he was not in a position of trust or authority over the girl, who attended high school in another district, and that she was of legal age to consent to a sexual relationship.

Mr. Bill - here you go again spouting off and insulting young women when you don’t have all of the facts. Must you advertise your ignorance so boldly? It so happens that 17 is the age of consent in Delaware and there currently is no law that forbids teachers from having sex with adult students. THUS - no crime was committed here.

So nobody “lied”, like you so irresponsibly claim. I know it’s much more fun for you to call teen age girls names and assume that every case of teacher/student sex is merely a con-job perpetrated by the children, but please…get a god damn clue.

    Mr. Bill Says:

We’ve told many of you that so called victims lie, and this is one of many cases. Teachers are arrested on the word of a minor without any proof or a confession. The guy’s life is ruined because of this lying c**t of a student. I hope he sues everyone he can. If he can’t then he should have the right to do to the “victim” what she accused him of doing to her. Justice still won’t be served, but he might as well get something out of it.

The Lehto teacher was released with no charges due to misinformation and false charges. I think he should sue the police department and the newspapers for reporting false information! The police officer lied to the press about his admitting guilt so where is the justice?
