Charles Whedbee

Charles Elsbury Whedbee, 41, a social studies teacher at Pasquotank County High School in Elizabeth City, North Carolina has reportedly been arrested and charged with three counts of taking indecent liberties with a minor.
Whedbee allegedly was involved in a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old female student.
Following his arrest, Whedbee was reportedly being held in the Albemarle District Jail with bond set at $30,000.
06/30/08 - Case Update
A Pasquotank County grand jury returned bills of indictment against Charles Whedbee increasing the severity of the the felony counts of indecent liberties.
When Whedbee was originally arrested he was charged with three class I felonies. Those charges have now been elevated to class F felonies which entail a more severe punishment range if convicted.
Following the grans jury indictment Whedbee was arrested again on the new charges and held in the Albemarle District Jail with bond set at $32,500.

Lets try to get something straight
The teacher taught social studies, the girl did NOT have sex with him, and the story has been taken way too far out of context, and the girls age is wrong (she does not wish to have her age exposed at the moment).

He was a great teacher and will be missed poorly. Oh and Grammar Police? He was NOT an English teacher. He was a History and Criminal Justice teacher and was the only who could really catch all the students attention and make learning fun at Perquimans County High.

“Student Who Cares” calls himself a teacher. Ironic? He also said “wells” where “well” was required. Good job!
“easteregg” says “where” where “were” was required.
If you people are really students of this man maybe he wasn’t even doing his job right in the first place.

Megan, That is the most ludicrous thing I have ever heard. Before u try to ruin someone’s reputation you should name names. Things get way overblown.

I am a former teacher of Whedbee, I talk to him everyday in school and have even talked to him since these accusations have come out. He says he did say somethings he knows he shouldn’t have, but he never touched the girl. Even without his words, he should not be treated this way. His reputation shot, and his poor students suffering as wells. The students here that currently have his class lost their teacher just a few weeks before testing in an EOC course. So, the teachers here have sacraficed themselves to help his students. Not only that, but what harm has come to the girl and her reputation? Not a damn thing. She goes on in class, no harm done, happy-happy joy-joy…How come no harm has come to her? I mean, it takes 2 to tango right? So if this stuff is so bad, shouldn’t she be punished as well? I’m not asking, I already know the answer - even if 1/4 of the area doesn’t agree with it.

I know he did because he was working at perquimans school as a criminal justice teacher and he was having sex with a few students… i was attending the school at the time
