Bad Bad Teacher

Chad N. Stover, 30, the Principal at Allegheny-Clarion Valley High School in Foxburg, Pennsylvania has waived a preliminary hearing in Venango County Central Court on a charge of corruption of minors.

Stover is accused of having inappropriate communications with a female student between 2004 and 2006 while he was an English teacher at Cranberry High School, in Cranberry, Pennsylvania. At the time of the alleged incidents the girl was 16 and 17-years old.

Reportedly the criminal complaint against Stover states that he and the girl would communicate via telephone, computers and cell phone text messaging and that Stover would allegedly ask the girl to perform a number of sexual acts such as pose naked in front of her bedroom window while he drove by the house, that he would tell her that he wanted to have sex with her and he would describe sex acts to her.

Stover resigned from the Cranberry school district in the summer of 2004 and was hired as assistant principal at Allegheny-Clarion Valley High School in August of that year. Stover was subsequently promoted to head principal at the school in October 2006.

Stover has been on unpaid administrative leave since September.

3/31/08 - Guilty Plea

Today Chad Stover pleaded guilty to a charge of corruption of minors for sending sexually explicit messages to a minor.

As part of the plea agreement Stover will receive a probationary sentence and will be prohibited from being involved as a teacher, coach or administrator with anyone under the age of 18.

Sentencing is set for May 22nd.

05/28/08 - Sentencing

Chad Stover has been sentenced to serve five years probation, to surrender his teaching and administrator licenses and to pay $1,325.50 in fines, costs and restitution.

Stover must also complete a treatment program for adult and adolescent sexual offenders and victims of sexual abuse and is prohibited from any contact with the victim.
