(10/15/07 – Initial BBT Report)

John James “Jamie” Allen, 27, a former theology teacher and girls soccer and volleyball coach at Vail Christian High School in Edwards, Colorado has been arrested on allegations of an inappropriate sexual relationship with a 17-year-old female student.

Reportedly the girl wanted to end the relationship and attempted to tell Allen so in an e-mail which she apparently mis-addressed and which was received by a man in Florida. That man reportedly turned the e-mail over to police.

On Thursday, Colorado investigators interviewed the girl and obtained a warrant for Allen’s arrest. Allen was reportedly arrested Friday night at his father’s home in Hermosa Beach, California.

Vail Christian High School administrators say that Allen sent a letter of resignation on Thursday night.

Reportedly, Allen is being held on a $15,000 bond at the Los Angeles County Jail and will be arraigned later this week. The girl’s family plans to pay Allen’s bond so that he can appear in court Wednesday.

12/19/07 – Guilty Plea

John James Allen pleaded guilty today to attempted sexual assault, a felony, and attempted unlawful sexual contact, a misdemeanor.

Sentencing is scheduled for February 21st and Allen faces up to three years in prison.

2/21/08 – Sentencing

John James Allen was today sentenced to 150 days in jail and 10 years of probation.

Allen will also be required to register as a sex offender.
