Jerry L. Angus, 52, a former health sciences and medical therapy teacher and softball coach at Spring Hill High School, in Columbia, Tennessee has been indicted by a Davidson County grand jury on 17 counts of sex offenses ranging from rape to sexual battery.

Reportedly the charges stem from an incident on April 2 at the Opryland Hotel.

In May of this year, Angus was charged with five counts of sexual battery by an authority figure in a case alleging a student victim.

Angus was subsequently indicted by a Maury County grand jury.

1/16/08 - Not Guilty In Maury County

On Monday a Maury County jury found Jerry Angus NOT GUILTY of the sexual battery of a 15-year-old female student.

Angus faces one more trial in Maury County and additional charges in Davidson County.

08/26/08 - Guilty

After 3 days of deliberations, a jury has found Jerry Angus guilty on charges of misconduct, sexual battery by an authority figure and statutory rape. Angus was found not guilty of one count of sexual battery by an authority figure and one count of rape.

The incidents for which Angus was found guilty occurred at the Opryland Hotel in Nashville, Tennessee last year.

Sentencing is set for October 3rd.

Sandra Binkley, 36, a math teacher at Portland High School in Portland, Tennessee has been arrested and charged with statutory rape by an authority figure for allegedly having sex with a 17-year-old male student.

It is alleged that Binkley had sex with the boy during March of this year during school hours and when other students were in the building.

Brinkley came to the attention of authorities when the boy reportedly told his parents earlier this week and they in turn contacted school administrators.

The father of the boy has been quoted in news media reports as saying, “He said she was okay, she was real nice. He said she was real friendly.”

Binkley reportedly turned herself in to police on Thursday and was subsequently released from the Sumner County jail on $5,000 bond.

Binkley who has reportedly taught at the school for 10 years has been placed on administrative leave without pay by the school system.

10/01/08 - More Alleged Victims Come Forward

Two more students have come forward claiming they’ve had a sexual encounter with Sandra Binkley.

The new allegations allege sexual acts between Binkley and the students both on and off campus.

As a result of the new allegations, Binkley surrendered to police today on new charges including two counts of statutory rape by an authority figure and one count of sexual battery by an authority figure.

Charles Michael Muskiet, 38, a Latin teacher at Baylor School, a private school in Chattanooga, Tennessee has been arrested in Dalton, Ga., on charges of criminal attempt at child molestation and computer pornography child exploitation.

Muskiet was arrested by agents involved in the Innocent Images Task Force after he allegedly went to Dalton, GA for what he thought would be sex with an underage person.

Following his arrest, Muskiet was being held in the Whitfield County jail without bond on Monday night.

Reportedly Muskiet, who began teaching at the school this year, has been fired by the school administration.

Reportedly, Charles Muskiet was released from jail on $50,000 bond on Friday.

Julie E. Petty, 36, of White Bluff, Tennessee, a part-time substitute teacher and softball coach at William James Middle School has been arrested and charged with sexual battery by an authority figure and statutory rape by an authority figure.

Petty who only recently went to work for the school is accused of committing the crimes against a 14-year old female eighth grade student.

Petty who was arrested at her home on Monday evening has been suspended without pay by the school system and is now free on $250,000 bond.

Petty’s next court appearance is set for Friday.

08/30/07 - Indicted

Julie E. Petty has been indicted on charges of sexual battery by a person in authority and statutory rape by a person in authority.

Petty who only recently went to work for the school is accused of committing the crimes against a 14-year old female eighth grade student during April of this year. Petty has been suspended without pay since her arrest.

Petty remains free on $250,000 bond and faces arraignment on the charges on September 10th.

As conditions of bond Petty can not work or reside within 1,000 feet of the any public or private school property, licensed daycare center or childcare facility. Additionally she is not permitted to work or reside within 1,000 feet of the alleged victim or the alleged victim’s immediate family residence. She is also prohibited from communicating with the alleged victim in any way.

08/27/08 - Guilty Plea

Julie Petty, in a plea deal, has pleaded guilty to sexual battery by an authority figure.

As part of the plea deal, prosecutors dropped a statutory rape charge against Petty.

Petty could face three to six years in prison when sentenced next month.

Teacher Charged With Rape Bonds Out Of Jail

Michael Eugene Noel, 36, who teaches math, coaches boys basketball and cross country, and is the athletic director at Clinch School in Hawkins County, Tennessee has been charged with aggravated sexual battery, sexual battery by an authority figure, attempted especially aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor and solicitation of a minor.

The alleged victims are two male students at Clinch School, ages 13 and 15-years-old, who were participating in a ’sleep over’ at Noel’s home in Kingsport on the weekend of June 16-18.

It is alleged that Noel forced a 13-year-old male to sexually arouse him by participating in behavior in which the child made intimate sexual contact with Noel and that Noel also solicited both boys to perform sex acts. It is further alleged that during a ’sleep over’ in 2006 that Noel had sexual contact with the same 13-year-old, who was 12 at the time.

Noel allegedly admitted the offenses to Kingsport Police.

Noel was being held in the Kingsport jail on $50,000 bond.

In addition to being a teacher at Clinch School, the smallest public school in Tennessee, Noel is or was also a coach at Eastman Recreation Area and the Kingsport Boys and Girls Club, both in Kingsport, Tennessee.

Update 07/02/07:

Michael Eugene Noel is was freed on $50,000 bond after arraignment on Friday.

The Hawkins County, Tennessee Sheriff’s Office is conducting a parallel investigation along with the Kingsport Police Department to see if any improper conduct was committed in that county.

Update 07/13/07:

The Hawkins County Board of Education has voted to fire Michael Eugene Noel in the wake of his arrest. Noel has 30 days to appeal the board’s action.

Noel is currently free on $50,000 bond awaiting further court action.

2/15/08 - Federal Indictment

Michael Eugene Noel has been indicted by a federal grand jury on charges alleging receipt and possession of child pornography and obstructing justice.

Noel faces a maximum of 40 years in federal prison if convicted of all charges, fines of $250,000 per count and the possibility of supervised release for life.

04/17/08 - Guilty Plea

Michael Eugene Noel has entered a guilty plea to federal charges of receipt of child pornography and obstructing justice.

Noel faces up to 20 years in federal prison and a fine of up to $250,000 at sentencing on August 18th.

08/18/08 - Sentencing

On Monday, Michael Eugene Noel was sentenced in U.S. District Court to 26 years (312 months) in federal prison.

Noel was also ordered to spend the rest of his life on supervised release.
