Ashley Esposito, 24, a former student-teacher at Turner Ashby High School in Bridgewater, Virginia has been arrested on felony charges of sodomy, and taking indecent liberties with a child by a person in a custodial or supervisory relationship.

Reportedly Esposito worked at the school from October to December of last year through a program as a student at James Madison University.

The alleged illicit activity is said to have occurred shortly after she left her job as a student-teacher. Reportedly Virginia case law states that a previous relationship can be considered if it occurs soon after the supervisory relationship ended.

Following her arrest Esposito was released on $3,000 secured bond.

If convicted she faces a maximum of 10 years in prison.

Esposito has a court date set for May 8.

05/08/08 – Case Continued

Ashley Esposito made a court appearance yesterday at which time a judge continued her case until September 11th.

Esposito remains free on bond.

09/12/08 – Esposito Found Guilty In First Case

Ashley Esposito was found guilty Thursday of contributing to the delinquency of a minor for buying alcohol for former students and providing them with booze at a party at her Harrisonburg apartment.

Esposito was sentenced to 10 months in jail, with six months suspended and fined $350.

Felony charges of sodomy and taking indecent liberties with a child by a person in a custodial or supervisory relationship and another misdemeanor charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor are going before a grand jury on Monday.

The felony charges carry a sentence of up to 10 years in prison.

04/17/09 – Guilty Plea

Ashley Esposito reportedly pleaded guilty on Thursday to charges of felony sodomy and misdemeanor contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Circuit Court Judge T.J. Wilson sentenced Esposito to six years in prison, with all but two months suspended.

Esposito also will have to register as a sex offender.

David Lawton, 26, an Albany State University student teacher who was teaching at Southeast Elementary School in Valdosta, Georgia has been arrested and held without bond on allegations he had a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old Valdosta boy.

Lawton is charged with aggravated child molestation and is being held in the Lowndes County Jail without bond.

Lawton came to the attention of authorities in August when the alleged victim came forward telling investigators about a sexual relationship he allegedly had with Lawton between January and June of this year.

Reportedly Lawton and the alleged victim met via a website.

A spokesperson for the school district says that Lawton’s service with the school system has been terminated.

03/13/09 – Grand Jury Indictment

A Lowndes County grand jury has indicted David Lawton on two counts of aggravated child molestation, two counts of aggravated stalking and three counts of theft by taking.

Daniel Harold Sundstrom, 47, reportedly a student teacher at Pioneer Junior High School in Upland, California through Cal State Fullerton has been arrested on suspicion of communicating with a minor for lewd acts.

Sundstrom was arrested Thursday in connection with the stalking of a 14-year-old girl on MySpace.com.

The mother of the alleged victim said Sundstrom was an interim teacher for Pioneer Junior High School and that he started showing an unusual interest in the girl after which the mother contacted the police.

It is alleged that Sundstrom started sending the girl “inappropriate messages” through MySpace and that Sundstrom asked the girl via the Internet to meet him at Upland Memorial Park.

Sundstrom was released on bail on Friday.

02/25/09 – No Contest Plea and Sentencing

Daniel Harold Sundstrom in a plea deal with prosecutors has pleaded no contest to a felony charge of attempted sexual battery.

As a result of his plea, Sundstrom was sentenced to 270 days in jail.

After he has served his jail time, Sundstrom will be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

As part of the plea deal, prosecutors dropped another felony charge and a misdemeanor charge.

Immediately following his sentencing hearing Sundstrom, who had been free on bail, was taken into custody to begin serving his jail term.
