Christopher M. French, 28, a special education teacher’s aide at the McCall Middle School in Winchester, Massachusetts has been arrested on a charge of child enticement.

It is alleged that French used the Internet to entice a 13-year-old female student to have sex with him

Reportedly police searched French’s home and obtained evidence which led to his arrest on allegations that he used online conversations in the enticement of the student. Reportedly a second search warrant was served yesterday and a third search warrant was served today.

At his arraignment French pleaded not guilty to one count of child enticement and was released on $5,000 cash bail.

His next court appearance is set for August 8th.

Reportedly French is the son of McCall Middle School Principal Evander French Jr.

10/20/08 - Christopher French Indicted

Christopher French was indicted today on 18 counts including child rape, child enticement, posing a child in a state of nudity, disseminating visual material of a child in a state of nudity, possession of child pornography and dissemination of matter harmful to minors..

French is now accused of sex crimes against six teenage girls and allegedly used web sites like Myspace and Facebook to lure his victims.

French is scheduled for arraignment next Wednesday.

11/05/08 - Arraignment

Christopher French was arraigned today on charges including child rape and posing a child in a state of nudity.

French pleaded not guilty to all charges and was ordered held in lieu of $25,000 bail.

Kevin M. Spurling, 43, a former special education teacher at Carter High School in Strawberry Plains, Tennessee has been sentenced following his guilty plea to one count of statutory rape in a case where Spurling was accused of sexually abusing his step-daughter, starting in January 2005.

Criminal Court Judge Eugene Eblen sentenced Spurling to 90 days in jail for the statutory rape of the girl.

Once Spurling completes his 90 day jail sentence he will spend the remainder of his two year sentence on supervised probation and will be required to attend sex offender treatment.

The judge denied Johnson’s attorney’s request that Spurling be placed on judicial diversion, calling that option “not proper”, as after the two year probation Spurling’s criminal record would be cleared of the conviction.

Spurling’s attorney has said the punishment is “too harsh” and that the sentence is likely subject of appeal.

The victim has been critical of prosecutors, saying they let the charges drag on for years and dismissed an incest indictment against Spurling without consulting her.

Norman J. Finizio II, 46, a special education teacher at Quincy High School in Quincy, Massachusetts has been arrested and charged with indecent assault and battery on a child under 14.

Finizio is alleged to have assaulted the 9-year-old girl, who is not a family member, in his home on various dates about a year ago.

It is alleged that the girl told police that Finizio would watch pornographic movies on his computer while he and the she “played school”.

Reportedly Finizio came to the attention of police on Monday via the alleged victim’s mother. He was arrested on Thursday.

At arraignment, Finizio was held without bond until a subsequent hearing next Wednesday.

10/28/08 - Grand Jury Indictment

Norman J. Finizio II who on October 7th pleaded innocent to charges of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14, providing obscene material to a child, and possession of child pornography has now been indicted by a grand jury.

Finizio who remains free on $1,000 bail and is reportedly on unpaid leave from the school system has a pre-trial hearing scheduled for December 16th.

Christina Lin Butler, 33, a special education teacher at Middleton High School in Tampa, Florida has been arrested and charged with having sex with a ninth-grade male student.

Reportedly Butler has admitted the sexual relationship with the boy to police after a series of events that began with a police stakeout targeting street crime at an apartment complex.

When police pulled over a group of boys driving erratically in Butler’s Jeep Grand Cherokee, the driver who did not have a license, told police Butler let him use the vehicle. Butler was called to the scene and while police were waiting her arrival another boy said the driver was involved in a relationship with the teacher.

According to police, “She said they had sexual relations no more than a dozen times and the most recent time, being Monday.”

Butler, who just started teaching at the school in August, was charged with lewd or lascivious battery and was subsequently released on bond.

Update 10/26/07:

An attorney for a 16-year-old boy who claims to have had sex with Christina Butler says he’s going to sue the school district. The same attorney says he is representing a female student who says the school suspended her as punishment because she kept talking about the alleged affair between Butler and the student.

Chatavia Kendricks was a student in Butler’s class and allegedly reported Butler’s inappropriate behavior to school administrators twice.

Kendricks says she was called a liar and was kicked out of school.

A spokesperson for the school district said rumors of the affair were investigated but couldn’t be substantiated earlier.

Update 10/29/07:

According to Christina Butler’s attorney, Butler has been hospitalized since Thursday.

Attorney Tom Fox says, “She is very emotionally distressed over this to the point she has had to be hospitalized”.

Butler has been suspended with pay until the school board can meet to determine her employment status.

Photos posted online are fueling speculation that Butler worked as an exotic dancer at a Washington, D.C., nightclub seven years ago. Fox said he does not know whether the woman in the pictures is his client.

09/11/08 - Plea Deal In the Works

An attorney for Christina Lin Butler said in court this morning that within a couple of weeks they expect to have the case “worked out” by way of a plea deal with prosecutors.

10/23/08 - Guilty Plea

Christina Butler pleaded guilty today to two counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor and misdemeanor charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and allowing an unlicensed driver to use her car.

Butler entered the guilty plea without benefit of a plea agreement with prosecutors regarding sentencing and prosecutors have recommend a “substantial sentence”.

As a result of Butler’s plea she could face up to thirty years in prison at sentencing set for December 10th.

Mandi Weeks, 27, a special education teacher at the Devereux Foundation NY Center in Red Hook, New York has been arrested on allegations that she raped and sexually abused a 15-year-old disabled student.

It is alleged that Weeks raped and sexually abused the 15-year-old boy on June 25, 2008, inside of his Queens home.

It is further alleged that Weeks sexually abused the boy while sitting in a car in a Queens parking lot on July 6, 2008. It is yet further alleged that Weeks then raped and sexually abused him later that same day inside of his home.

Weeks came to the attention of police when the victim boarded a subway in an effort to find Weeks and got lost. While he was gone, his mother reported him missing. While police were going through his computer in search of leads they allegedly discovered inappropriate e-mails from the Weeks.

Queens District Attorney Richard Brown indicated that “The victim is believed to have a 50 IQ, making him particularly vulnerable to a teacher who is supposed to have his best interest in mind.”

Weeks is charged with two counts of rape with a child under the age of 21 and two acts of acting in a manner to injure a child under the age of 17.

10/21/08 - Guilty Plea

Newsday reports that, according to the Queens DA, Mandi Weeks has pleaded guilty to third-degree rape.

Formal sentencing is set for January 12th and Weeks faces six months in jail and 10 years probation at sentencing.

Weeks will reportedly be required to register as a sex offender.
